With best wishes for July 4th Celebrations

June 29th, 2020

Dear ASF Members and Friends of the Foundation,

As all of us grapple with the Covid Pause for us in New York City it has been a time of side walk dinning as we have seen cafes and restaurants build out their outside dinning into the streets, lifting the spirits of so many I speak to.

Later this week we will have July 4th Celebrations mid Pause, Summer has truly arrived and we send everyone very best wishes for weekend of celebration.

Below we share updates of events, now virtual, that we hope you will join - collaborations that we are proud to be a part of and hope you will be too as we share our love of Scotland.

With strong thoughts from all of us at the American-Scottish Foundation - and as the "mighty" lions in front of the NY Public Library masked up this week, reminding us to stay masked up and safe.

SCOTTISH BANNER share their July issue with
American Scottish Foundation members & friends

The issue is packed with news and updates from  around the global Scottish American Community

To access the issue use LINK HERE
The issue spotlights the Highland Games.

As Editor Sean Cairney notes:
... " Sadly, due to Covid-19 large scale events cannot take place just now and this has been devastating to the Highland Games communities across the globe.

For some going to a Highland Games each year was their only time to connect to their ancestry or was part of their family's tradition. To not have Highland Games taking place certainly leaves a void for so many facets of the Scottish community."

On June 21, in celebration of the Summer Solstice, ASF joined with Make Music New York for Sounds from Scotland.  Produced by Jamie McGeechan we had a great time = and the Facebook Streaming drew great audiences for our musicians.

Following the great reception ASF is launching a
Monthly two hour concert - 3rd Sunday of the month:
SOUNDS FROM SCOTLAND.  3-5pm EST

Our first one will be on Sunday July 19th - 3pn - Live Streaming on Facebook.

Music is a key component to our youth bursary programs and to our community programming - we love helping young emerging talent in Scotland have opportunities here in the US.
