Kids are kids - no matter where they live. Most of our shelter residents are children under the age of eight. While summer vacation is a time most children look forward to, it's often a different story at The Redwood. But think about the joy a child will experience when she goes on a special day trip to an amusement park, or the relief a mom will feel knowing that her son or daughter will have a birthday party - these are just some of the special things we have planned to help give moms and kids an amazing summer.Here's how your gift can help families at our 33-bed emergency shelter this summer: $30.50 will send a mom and her child to a summer blockbuster (Spider-Man!), complete with drinks and popcorn. $43.41 can give a child or youth an exciting day at Canada's Wonderland, where they can have fun on the rides and try the rollercoasters! $75.40 will send a mom and her child on a special day trip to the water park. $85.10 can give a child a fun-filled birthday party, complete with games, treats and cake for everyone! We always have a lot of birthdays during the summer months, which is why we need your help to celebrate them. $110.50 will provide a delicious BBQ for all of the families in The Redwood's Courtyard Garden - complete with an ice cream sundae bar and games for the kids! $1000 will send all of the families on a special day trip outside of the city. Among our plans this summer is a visit to a farm to meet the animals and have lunch. |
