Afternoon/Evening at Albemarle

Thursday July 4, 1pm - 10pm

The fun continues with a carnival featuring kiddie amusement rides by Cushing Amusements, an open air market with local business vendors, and handmade artisans. At 2pm the live music starts at the gazebo. Sing along with Newton's own City Hall Strummers community ukulele ensemble and stick around for the music of the Bay Colony Brass at 3pm, while enjoying refreshments from a variety of food trucks parked around the grounds.

Newton’s own Kat Chapman and her bandmate and co-producer Chris Leadbetter fire up the main stage at 5:30pm. Come early to save your space in the field. At 7pm things really kick up with the headliner band East Coast Soul bringing the crowd to their feet dancing and singing till dark. Try out the delicious food from the many food trucks and enjoy the open space under the stars. At 9pm settle in for the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display!

While most of the events are free on the 4th, there is a charge for food trucks and the carnival. A portion of these sales are sent back to the community in the form of free programs and events. Thank you for your support. Visit Newton Cultural Development for details.

Volunteers are still needed for this event. Please click the button below to sign up!

Celebrating The Artful Pianos

Nine gorgeously painted pianos are on display across the city through Labor Day. Stop by one (or all!) to make music or just admire the artwork. Find a piano in Nonantum, Newtonville, Auburndale, Waban, Newton Center, Newton Highlands, and Upper Falls, and at City Hall and Farlow Park. To Newton Community Pride, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, our "grand piano sponsor" of the Artful Piano Project, and the incredible group of volunteers who make up the team of "Piano Pals" who tend to the beautiful instruments all summer long we say....

THANK YOU !!

Artist Lauren Dewitt putting finishing touches on her piano.
