San Gabriel, Calif. – San Gabriel will kick off its summer series with the annual Surf’s Up block party. Hosted in the historic Mission District, Surf’s Up will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with live entertainment, an inflatable rock wall, food trucks, games, community booths and family-friendly fun activities.
The block party will feature live Beach Boys tribute tunes by Woody & The Longboards; a LED poi-illuminated light dance performance and more from the South Bay Luaus; as well as a Hawaiian/Polynesian dance segment.
A variety of food trucks will be joining the event, including Rice Balls of Fire, Tropic Truck, Bison Burger and Eagle Rock BBQ. A beer and wine garden hosted by the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce will also be available, offering alcoholic beverages for purchase.
Following the Surf’s Up block party will be a series of free outdoor concerts and movies. Residents and visitors are invited to bring their blankets and enjoy the below experiences throughout June, July and August:
- Thursday, June 29 at 7 p.m.: Louis Cruz Beltran concert at the Mission Playhouse
- Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m.: Latin concert featuring Mariachi Espectacular at Vincent Lugo Park
- Thursday, July 13 at 8:30 p.m.: Vivo (2021) movie at Vincent Lugo Park
- Thursday, July 20 at 7 p.m.: Jazz fusion concert featuring Phat Yaki at the Mission Playhouse
- Thursday, July 27 at 7 p.m.: Top 40 concert featuring 4AlarmBand at Vincent Lugo Park
- Thursday, July 27 at 8:30 p.m.: Annie (2014) movie at Vincent Lugo Park
- Thursday, August 10 at 7 p.m.: Kids concert featuring Wacko the Magician and Kids Imagine Nation at Vincent Lugo Park
- Thursday, August 10 at 8:30 p.m.: Minions (2022) movie at Vincent Lugo Park
