Summer 2017 Campus Activities and Events
Northrup Grumman Summer Engineering Camp @USC
Northrop Grumman Summer Engineering Camp @USC - A two week camp in which students explore aerospace, electrical, civil and mechanical engineering with hands-on activities such as rockets, circuits, bridges, and robots. Students also explore computer science by learning to create video games and write apps.

HS STEM Engineering
During this 3-week summer program, high school students developed new STEM lessons for elementary and middle school students which are being used in the school-based programs during the school year. Because high school students are near peers, they have unique insight into the types of projects, activities and experiments that will generate enthusiasm for STEM in elementary and middle school students.
Mission Engineering Workshop
This high school engineering program is a two week summer commuter program for 9th,10th, and 11th grade students where Mission Engineering students work in teams to design and complete various engineering projects. Under a Mission to Mars theme, students worked on projects that included robotics, rockets and wind energy.

Northrop Grumman Sons and Daughter's Day
USC Viterbi participated in the Northrop Grumman annual “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day”. This is an event that allows for NGC employees to bring their children and tour their Space Park campus in Redondo Beach.
Exploring Engineering Camp
E xploring Engineering - A two week residential summer engineering program in which 18 high school students from South Korea come to USC to learn about robotics, rocketry, electrical engineering, computer aided design and alternative energy around a Mission to Mars theme.

Discover Engineering Course
In this three unit course, students are exposed to various engineering disciplines through a series of lectures, academic exercises, research assignments and engineering projects. Students experience a wide range of engineering applications for a variety of engineering majors through designing, building and testing their own projects, conducting research, completing homework assignments and taking assessments.

Careers in STEM Seminars
Careers in STEM is a week long series where middle and high school students learn about 15 different STEM fields from USC faculty, USC students and Industry professionals.
USC MESA Teacher Retreat
USC MESA Teacher Professional Development Retreat helps teachers kickoff the year through planning, collaborating and exchanging ideas for upcoming MESA year.
Fall 2017 Campus Activities and Events
MESA Student Leadership Retreat
The annual Student leadership retreat for MESA high school students develops leadership skills including goal setting, problem solving, communication, team building and time management.
MESA College and Career Day
Nearly 800 middle and high school students from USC MESA and STEM-EOP partner schools attended a college fair and college and career workshops and participated in hands-on STEM activities led by USC STEM students and Industry professionals.
Australia's Mosman High School
Robotics
USC Viterbi students teamed up with students from Australia's Mosman High school at USC for an exciting half-day Robotics Seminar.
Schools on Wheels Homeless Initiative
STEM-EOP in partnership with USC IEEE and a Dornsife researcher provide Saturday hands-on electrical engineering workshops for homeless students.
Youth STEM-EOP Experience
USC Viterbi students run STEM activities for K-12 homeless students at various Schools on Wheels Program sites in Los Angeles.
Young Scientist Program - Optics Workshop
In partnership with USC JEP's Young Scientist Program, STEM-EOP presented an optics demonstration for elementary school students at the Alexander Science school.
Coding workshop for Whittier Middle School Students
Students from Whittier Area Community Day School learned how to create their own projects in Scratch.
Wonderkids - Optics Workshop
Students from the USC JEP's Wonderkids learned how optics relate to "light and sight" through hands-on activities.
School-based Programs
Viterbi STEM School Partnership
Viterbi STEM Schools Partnership is a collaboration between K-12 schools and USC Viterbi STEM-EOP that offers students authentic STEM experiences through school-based, student-led STEM clubs.

MESA
MESA is a program in USC Viterbi that serves educationally disadvantaged middle and high school STEM students by providing a pipeline of academic services. USC MESA serves over 1500 students at 30 schools and has been part of USC Viterbi for 40 years.

Mission Science
Mission Science, sponsored by USC Good Neighbors, is a hands-on, minds on STEM program where elementary and middle school students learn STEM through activities, projects and experiments.

STEM Center for Innovation and Excellence (SCIE)
SCIE helps schools create a STEM culture through STEM entrepreneurship, support of STEM clubs and teacher professional development. Through interaction with STEM college students, faculty and professionals, students gain a unique insight into STEM careers.
