Hello Glastonbury!

If you've visited the Library recently, you've seen the buzzing activity levels of our Summer Reading Program. What you might not have noticed is the new computer time & print management system that we quietly rolled out over the last couple of months. Why is this worth mentioning? If you're like me, your at-home printer is forever out of ink and occasionally, you need to print. Here's where we come in! Now, not only can you visit the Library to use a computer, but you can print from home, from your phone, from your laptop, or from, well, anywhere! Instructions are on our website, but basically, you can email or upload documents from wherever you are and then swing by the library within 24 hours & pick them up. Payment can be made by cash, credit card, or Apple pay (both new!). We now also have an advanced scanner/copier system on the second floor that allows you to crop images, change the coloring, and even make two-sided scans of your ID. These machines are amazingly adaptive, too, with the ability to magnify the screen for low-vision users and to translate the instructions into dozens of languages for our ESL patrons, making the system more user-friendly for everyone.  Best of all, our Reference team is happy to show you how it all works - just ask!

Happy Printing,

Amy

Susan Terni Taff: This Is Not A Zoo

Wildlife Photography at Nambiti Private Game Reserve

June 29 – August 31, 2024

Artist Reception July 30, 6:30 PM

Artist, photographer, and Glastonbury resident Susan Terni Taff, has dabbled in a variety of art media over the years, including watercolor painting, mixed media, textile arts, and botanical printing. “This Is Not A Zoo” is a collection of 18 photographs of wildlife taken in 2016 at the Nambiti Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Situated in a malaria-free zone, the reserve comprises 26,000 acres of grasslands, savanna, and bush, and is home to the Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo), as well as 40 other species and a multitude of birds.

Complimenting her photography, you’ll find examples of bags made from cloth Taff wove on her Japanese Saori loom, hand woven paper baskets, and art journals from her travels around the world in the Erley Display Case.
