MISSION STATEMENT

Through donations received from members and the public, Animal Care and Welfare Inc.

offers assistance for low cost spays and neuters. We also operate our pet placement program by collaborating with shelters, carefully selecting homeless pets and placing them in loving homes.

BIANNUAL NEWSLETTER

Throughout the years, ACW has partnered with shelters to find forever families for homeless pets. There are times though when you have to

take a different approach to helping pets in need.

Georgie Girl is a 17 year old kitty who had stayed by her elderly guardian’s side until the very end. She was grieving without her best friend and it showed. Her extended family loved her dearly, but they knew that their home was not the best place for her to live out her golden years. This is where ACW stepped in to help out. By using our resources, we were able to get Georgie Girl’s story out to the public. She was soon able to go from her old home to a loving new home seamlessly. This is what her new guardian said…

Just to let you all know Georgie Girl seems very happy. She lays beside me

at night while I watch TV…I pet her and she purrs the whole time. She's playing and she sleeps with us at night. Thank you so much. She has brought such joy to our lives…She's a little like a puppy…she just follows me around and talks.

We adore her.”

ACW was happy to make this connection, because we feel it is never too late for senior pets to get a second chance. Older pets are often overlooked and don’t thrive in a shelter environment. If you are planning to adopt, consider a senior pet. There are many older pets like Georgie Girl who still have a lot of love to give. If you know of a pet in a similar situation who is looking for a new home, ACW may be able to help.

ACW was catching up with some of our adopted puppies and their new families. There were a total of 10 puppies in the litter below and they were the result of an unplanned pregnancy. These puppies were lucky to find their forever homes, but there are many puppies like them that are not so fortunate. ACW has always been an advocate for spaying and neutering, because it can prevent certain health and behavioral issues. Most importantly though, it keeps shelters from becoming overcrowded and decreases the risk of euthanasia. If you know of someone who  needs financial support for spaying or neutering,

ACW may be able to provide assistance.

If you can’t adopt, there IS always something you can do to help pets like these. Everyone can do something to help homeless pets a get a second chance. Be part of the solution and consider what you can do to save a life.

HAPPY TAILS FOR ASTER

Thank you so much Sue! I am absolutely in LOVE with my little guy. He is learning every day and I am so happy that he makes friends easily - with dogs and with humans. Today, we stopped to visit an elderly neighbor who has cancer and he was so gentle with saying hello. Then on the way home, we stopped by another neighbor and he rough-housed with their little Boston terrier…

He loves to RUN in the woods by our place.

This is truly a great life for a dog.”
