Preservation in Action: Volunteer Success Stories
Restoration Rollercoaster: native plant regrowth at Pomeroy is looking up!
PHLT Stewardship Manager Matt and his crew of volunteers dedicated many hours to removing invasive plants at Pomeroy Nature Preserve, only to find that the native wildflowers they were trying to protect had now been made vulnerable to hungry white-tailed deer. Further efforts to protect the restoration area with deer exclosure fencing seem to have been a success: in a recent visit, we counted 65 native Trillium plants! Learn more about the ups and downs of this project in our latest Wandering Woods series.
Building a bridge to paradise
Amazing work done by PHLT volunteers Ellen, Dean, Joe & Bob who carried supplies about 1/4 mile through the woods to build a bridge at Upper Paradise Nature Preserve! Special thanks to Joe who designed the bridge and ran the show.

The trail is not yet finished on the other side of the Cranberry Creek, but when it is done you'll be able to walk the whole connecting stretch of PHLT’s Upper Paradise Preserve and Paradise Township’s Nothstein Preserve. Thank you volunteers for your hard work and team effort improving access to nature!
"Elephant Snot" grafitti removal product donated by PHLT volunteer Lisa Oser works wonders at Jonas and Fieldstone Farm
Graffiti on the rock at Jonas Mountain Nature Preserve has virtually vanished, and on the walls of the Fieldstone farmhouse it has diminished substantially. We will follow up with a second round at Fieldstone later this summer, but even with one application, the difference is huge! Thank you Lisa for funding this project and turning us onto this amazing product!
