Hello Glastonbury!

I don't know about you, but as the season winds down and the heat ramps up, I'm having trouble finding "beach reads" that keep me interested. Luckily, WTML has several things to help with that! First, we offer Wowbrary, a service for WTML patrons that lists our newest titles - and even offers up the opportunity to have an email sent to you with new suggestions each week based on your reading preferences! Next, we offer Novelist Plus, a database that lets you search for books by subject, mood, genre, read-alikes, and more! Finally, if you want to get really personal, our professional librarians are happy to provide reading recommendations - either online or in person at our Reference & Information desk upstairs at WTML. No matter which you choose, I'm sure you will find something great on our shelves to finish out your summer!

 Happy Reading,

Amy

PS - If you'd like to join us as we discuss some great books, our monthly book club for Adults meets the second Tuesday of each month and always features an interesting title worth discussing!

Ride a "title" wave at Welles-Turner Memorial Library by joining the Summer Reading Surf Club!

Everyone in your household is invited to read along with us this summer at WTML! Our Surf Club encourages your family to attend library programs and read in all formats – books, e-books, and audiobooks–on your own or together as a family. Children are challenged to read daily to receive rewards each week. Teens and Adults are entered into drawings for weekly gift cards and grand prizes. Entries must be received by Saturday, August 12th to qualify for prizes.

Whether or not you decided to join the Surf Club this year, join us at the Summer Reading Celebration Concert (see below) to celebrate the end of a GREAT season!

Everyone is invited to celebrate the conclusion of the 2023 Summer Reading Surf Club with a live concert from the current Connecticut State Troubadour, Kala Farnham, at a special "after hours" party in the Commons! Kala is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. Her signature songwriting has been likened to a reinvention of the traditional folk with influences of pop, Broadway, and world music. Sponsored by the Friends of the WTML.

Library Art Gallery

“I have always been fascinated by the power of a painting,” says Jean Dalton. “Whether figurative or abstract, a painting can evoke emotions and feelings.” Her latest show, which is made up of a variety of pieces from across her career and hand selected for the library by the artist, focuses primarily on her smaller abstract pieces.

Ms. Dalton, a Glastonbury resident, began her career in art with study in classical realism in a variety of media.
