Summer break is just around the corner! Students can find creative and educational enrichment in the camps listed below. Sign up for a class with one of the Mobile Arts Council's Member Organizations today! Click on anything in bold for more information.

ACAC SUMMER ART CAMPS:

JUNE & JULY | AGES 6-15


Alabama Contemporary summer camps are week-long sessions from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. through the months of June and July, with sessions for 6-10 or 11-15 year olds. Camps welcome all skill levels and span various mediums to keep kids thinking creatively all summer long.



Students are encouraged to think creatively, create narratives and challenge themselves to learn new artistic and expression techniques. Classes will include ceramics, drawing, painting, art appreciation, mixed media projects, and movement.

June 10th - 14th | 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Reimagine the Landscape: Art and the Environment

*Ages 11-14*

Instructor: Cheryl Ankrom

Leave a positive mark! Campers will delve into the intersection of art and nature with everything from vibrant mixed media projects to traditional painting methods. The week will end with an art show featuring work created by the campers.

Students will explore different art mediums including paint, collage, color, mixed media watercolor, drawing, and movement.


June 24th – June 28th | 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Clay & Caricatures

*Ages 11-15*

Instructors: Anne Hemphill Carr & Zak Todd

Get your hands dirty! Draw your own characters from scratch, learn the basics of sketching and illustration, then make it 3D. Campers will experiment with wheel throwing and create their own ceramic sculptures using clay.


July 8th - 12th | 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Watercolor, Clay, and Bubbles

*Ages 6-10*

Instructors: Tori Caldwell & Mary Ashley Hand

Campers will experience watercolor painting and make playful sculptures out of clay with local artists Tori Caldwell and Mary Ashley Hand. They will create mixed media sculptures and take home their personalized stained glass, making memories that shine brightly all summer long!


July 15th - 19th | 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Soynika's Art Camp

*Ages 6-10*

Instructor:  Soynika Edwards-Bush

Students will explore different art mediums, including portrait painting, collage, mixed media, watercolor, drawing, and movement with local artist Soynika Edwards-Bush.


July 15th - 19th | 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.: Theatre and Costume Making

Students will explore different art mediums including painting, ceramics, sewing, collage, mixed media, and more.

Bellingrath Gardens & Home

Embark on a journey of discovery with Summer STEM Camps, where children from kindergarten to Grade 6 can dive into hands-on activities that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Bellingrath Gardens & Home camps encourage a sense of exploration and adventure while teaching the importance of the natural environment.


June 3rd - 7th | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Backyard Detective

June 17th - 21st | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Heroes and Villains

Discover the intricate world of bugs and their roles in our ecosystem. Campers will determine who the real heroes and villains are in the bug realm.


July 22nd - 26th | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Outdoor Observer

Connect with nature and learn about habitats and ecosystems. This camp includes a mix of STEM activities and creative art projects.

Central Arts Collective is the home of 15+ artists who rent out formally unused space at Central Presbyterian Church to use as studio space. Each artist occupies their own studio, working independently and collaborating with others in the Collective as much as they like. Some of these artists are hosting arts classes this summer. June 3rd- 28th | 9 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.: 3rd Floor Art Camp!

*Ages 7-15*

3rd Floor Art Camp treats kids to a week-long immersive art experience. Lead by two professional artists, campers will create projects using watercolor, acrylic paint, fabric, Gelli print plates, paper, natural materials, recycled items, string, and more. Projects range from wall art to usable items and will introduce campers to a wide range of art materials and techniques.

Students at Classical Ballet have the opportunity to train from pre-school through advanced levels. They will gain performance experience, participate in outreach service within our community, and become eligible to dance with the Account. Curriculum is based on the traditional classical ballet syllabus.

Summer music camps are the perfect time to learn a new instrument, play in a band, practice your instrument, and have a great time performing together. All instruments and ability levels are welcome! Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival: Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp

Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp


The Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp requires each student to have their own instrument and possess the ability to play music scales. Exploreum Academies are hands-on educational experiences that dive into a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) concepts and offer student-led activities and projects. The mission is to enhance the student experience and foster an environment of curiosity and exploration. All classes will be focused on STEAM education themes. These will include, but are not limited to, engineering, biology, music, art, culture, environmental and health. From these highlighted topics, students will be given the chance to illustrate their knowledge with an activity or project that will be displayed at the end of each session to share with parents and guests. Session hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Check-in takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Check-out takes place from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each Academy class has a capacity of 15 students.

Mobile Botanical Gardens

This weeklong summer camp is a wonderful introduction to outdoor experiences and nature for rising 3rd and 4th graders. It will cover such topics as “Bees, Butterflies and Botany”, “Reptiles and Amphibians”, and “Woodland Monsters and Fairy Houses”. Activities include hikes on nature trails, nature scavenger hunts and daily investigations of how plants and animals interact. The program is typically scheduled for the 3rd week of June.

Mobile Museum of Art

MMofA’s art camps offer in-depth art knowledge with fun hands-on art activities for ages 5 – 16. Taught by trained art professionals, each class is customized by age group to explore concepts relating to the elements and principles of art, famous artists, and the MMofA museum collection. Tours in the galleries — including FOR CHILDREN: The Elements of Art & Design and DECADES: Looking Back/Moving Forward.


All camps will run Monday through Friday. To fit into your busy summer schedule, campers can register for the morning session (9 a.m. – noon), the afternoon session (1 – 4 p.m.), or the full-day session (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.).

Mobile Parks and Recreation

The mission of the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department is to increase the social, emotional, and physical well-being of our community by providing diverse activities in secure & welcoming spaces.


They will once again have summer camps available to families starting on June 3rd and ending on August 2nd, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The camps are targeted to children ages 5 - 15.

The mission of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra is to enhance lives by achieving the highest standards in live symphonic music and music education.



MSO's Summer Strings program will begin on June 3rd and end on July 18th. The program accommodates children in grades K-12.

Ages 4-7, violin, viola, cello. Pre-Twinkle class no experience needed; Instrument not included. Parents must attend class.


SUMMER MUSIC THEORY IS FUN (Mobile & Fairhope)

LEVEL I: Grades 4-6. Note reading fundamentals, basic musical symbols and concepts, melodic and rhythmic ear training.

LEVEL II: Grades 7-12. More advance musical concepts and ear training. Circle of fifths, intervals, key and time signatures, etc. Materials will be provided.


SUMMER MOBILE BEGINNER STRINGS (Mobile & Fairhope)

Grades 2-6. Violin, viola, cello. No experience needed. Instrument not included.


SUMMER STRINGS- ANDANTE GROUP (Mobile & Fairhope)

Grades 2-3. Violin, viola, cello, bass. 6 months to 1 year of experience needed. Instrument not included. Note reading fundamentals. Proper posture and basic bow technique. Music will be provided.


SUMMER STRINGS- ALLEGRO GROUP (Mobile and Fairhope)

Grades 4-5. Violin, viola, cello, bass. 2+ years of experience needed. Instrument not included. Note reading review and rhythm exercises will be done, with a focus on bow techniques. Music will be provided.


SUMMER STRINGS- VIVACE GROUP (Mobile and Fairhope)

Grades 6-7. Violin, viola, cello, bass. 3+ years of experience. Instrument not included. Music will be provided. More advanced techniques, scales, arpeggios and repertoire will be the focus.


SUMMER STRINGS- PRESTO GROUP (Mobile and Fairhope)

Grades 8-10. Violin, viola, cello, bass. 4+ years of experience needed. Advanced repertoire and techniques will be the focus with an introduction to vibrato, shifting and spiccato. Instrument not included. Music will be provided.


SUMMER CHAMBER ENSEMBLES (Mobile and Fairhope)

Grades 6-12. Violin, viola, cello, bass. 4+ years of experience. Instrument not included. Music will be provided. In Fairhope, ensembles will be collaborating with the Eastern Shore Chamber Music Festival.

“Now I Know My ABC’s” camp is for kids entering PreK and Kindergarten. It will be a fantastic educational opportunity for young learners to engage with letters through creative expression. Through hands-on activities, such as painting, collaging, and drawing, children can not only learn about the alphabet but also develop fine motor skills and foster a love for art. This camp provides a fun and interactive way for kids to immerse themselves in the world of letters and lays a strong foundation for their future literacy development.

Sunny Side Theater’s Drama Camps have been a Mobile fixture since 2002. What started as a two-week camp has turned into a full-time summer program meeting the needs of kids and families desiring an immersive experience.


Several different theatre camps will be offered this summer. Don't miss out on this opportunity for your child to gain public speaking skills, friendships, confidence, and more!


Original Drama Camp

Campers play theater games, participate in show rehearsals, learn about styling and characterization, and paint sets all while putting together a full-length play.

Drama Camp Jr.

For Sunny Side's youngest actors and actresses, they are thrilled to offer another fresh summer of camps! Children will learn all the basics of acting while producing a skit to present at the end of each week! Counselors have experience working with children in the arts and help them choose costumes, paint scenery, and put on a show for parents.

Musical Theatre Intensive

How can you put on a full musical in just one week? You combine the amazing directors of Sunny Side with nationally award-winning directors & choreographers from around the country! Kids will produce an entire musical complete with sets & costumes!

Glee Camp

If you love singing, Broadway, Disney, or pop songs, this is the camp for you! From start to finish, this camp allows each student the chance to experience the thrill of singing solos and learning choreography at their own pace. The last night of camp features a full concert with plenty of hand-clapping and toe-tapping!

Rising Stars

A special camp designed specifically for older students, this camp will focus on really developing a character and giving the audience something to laugh at! Directed by Actor’s Edge Studio owner Eric Browne, this camp leaves the audience in stitches, as the show is always something super funny!

Under the direction of Kendall Lee, Education Director, and the talented members of The PACT Theatre company staff! These musical theatre performance camps condense The PACT Show experience into two action-packed weeks. Monday through Friday, campers meet at The PACT studio where they audition, receive a role, and rehearse the show. Those shows are performed on the last Friday of camp!

University of Mobile

The University of Mobile's Summer Theatre & Music Camps at Alabama School of the Arts provides a safe and exciting environment for children to learn all about music and performance! Spend time collaborating and growing with like-minded performers and musicians. Cultivate skills and gain opportunities to rehearse and perform on a stage in front of an audience.



Theatre Camp for High Schoolers

*Campers may choose to be part of a final showcase with rehearsals for this at 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily

With intensives in dance, music, and acting, Alabama School of the Arts at UofM offers a top-quality summer camp program designed to help all inspiring artists strengthen their talents and become more marketable in a competitive field. There will be a final showcase performance on the last day of camp. Theatre topics include acting, dance, auditioning, combat, improv, theatrical makeup, music/voice.


Music Camp

JUNE 24th -28th | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

*After-care will be offered from 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Ages: Rising 2nd - 6th graders

Music camp: $200

Aftercare: $50

A week at UofM's Alabama School of the Arts' Music Camp will provide opportunities for instrument exploration, foster a love for music, and build performance confidence. Campers will be offered the opportunity to explore and gain hands-on experience with percussion instruments, piano, and several orchestral instruments. Daily activities and topics include singing, music history, music theory, dance and movement, instrument discovery in piano, string instruments, ukelele, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Parents are invited to see their children perform at a program at the end of the week.
