SUMMERCAMP 2014
CILT PROGRAM
Be strong, you never know who you are inspiring.

rehabilitative camp program for
burn survivors 8-24 and their families.
Supported by a licensed medical and psychosocial staff, campers reprocess traumatic pathways caused by a burn injury in an outdoor setting.

CILT Program

THE CILT program at Cheley Children's Hospital Summer Burn Camp is our Camper in Leadership Training Program. This is a 2-year leadership program for our seniors and 2014 high school graduates.

Supported by the CILT Leadership Team, CILTS arrive one day before the campers and interact in small group sessions to cover leadership topics. Each CILT is partnered with a mentor who supports their growth and development in both the cabin and on activities. CILTs assume a leadership role during camp and are presented with the opportunity to translate the lessons from their pre-camp training into real world experiences.

Topics of Focus:

Goal-setting

Teamwork

Styles of leadership

Strength finding

Learning to lead

The program supports the campers individually and within a group to maximize
learning and leadership opportunities.

As with all our programs, we address
social skill development, body image, challenging negative/limiting beliefs, appropriate risk-taking, and overcoming challenges in a supportive community.

Words from the Campers

"The CILT program is a program to teach teens lifelong leadership skills and they could come back as a counselor and help other campers.  I want to be part of the program because I enjoy helping others, making others happy and making them laugh."

"...former campers learn about leadership and the deeper values of camp. I want to be a part of this program because camp has done a lot for me and I want a chance to give back to others. To be honest, the fact of being in role of leadership makes me nervous but I know I can handle it."
