Calling all CM volunteers for Stroll the Streets & Boyne Thunder on Friday, July 7th
Proceeds from Boyne Thunder support Challenge Mountain's mission to enrich lives and empower individuals living with disabilities through year-round adaptive recreation.
This is Challenge Mountain's biggest fund raising event and it wouldn't be possible without the support of our volunteers.
We will need fourteen (14) volunteers to monitor the Boyne City intersections during Stroll the Streets on Friday evening. From
3:00 - 6:00 pm
, volunteers open and close the street barriers to let Boyne Thunder boats and show cars park in the streets. During the second shift from
6:00 - 10:00 pm, volunteers monitor the barricades as needed while mingling with street strollers. Although not nearly as much fun as strolling the streets, we do need
three (3) volunteers
to help fold and stack tables and chairs on
Sunday morning July 9 from 8:00 - 10:00 am.
Volunteers enjoy donating their time at this fun event each year and the financial support from the Boyne Thunder is important to our recreational programming. I hope you will consider joining us to volunteer and enjoy this fun event benefiting Challenge Mountain. Please contact
Bill Aten or
Elizabeth Looze to volunteer. See you on July 7th!

Summertime Fun with Challenge Mountain!
You already know how much we love winter at Challenge Mountain, but you may not know how much fun we have enjoying our local trails, lakes and beaches during the summer. Our big event of the summer is two weeks of
SPIRIT Day Camp, July 10-14 and July 17-21. More than 80 campers will enjoy recreation and leisure at various events and activities scheduled throughout northern Michigan.
SPIRIT Day Camp is made possible through grants from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, the Petoskey Knights of Columbus, Christ Child Society of Northern Michigan and individual donors.
Challenge Mountain participants will also be enjoying
adventures on the pontoon boat that was purchased with proceeds from the sale of two other CM owned boats. Thank you to the
Bay Harbor Community Foundation for funding to purchase the trailer to transport the pontoon to lakes throughout northern Michigan.
With kayaking, boating, adaptive biking, camping and sailing, summer will be filled with adventure for everyone who comes to Challenge Mountain to experience life and adventure. If you would like to join us for an adventure, check out the
calendar on our website and contact
Linda Armstrong. Hope you can join us for some summer fun!

The new Challenge Mountain truck transporting adaptive bikes to East Park in Petoskey. |
Great Things Happen Together
at Challenge Mountain!
Earlier this spring,
Challenge Mountain was able to purchase
a new pickup truck from Bob Mathers Ford in Boyne City.
Challenge Mountain provides many recreational opportunities including biking, hiking, kayaking and boating throughout the region. The new pickup truck will be used daily by staff for maintenance, snow plowing in the winter and transporting adaptive bikes, kayaks and boats to recreational sites in Charlevoix and Emmet counties during the spring, summer and fall program seasons. Each year, Challenge Mountain provides more than 1,800 individual recreational experiences for individuals living with disabilities and their families. Ninety percent of our participants come from Charlevoix and Emmet counties.
The new truck was made possible because of generous grants from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, the Great Lakes Energy People Fund, and Petoskey Rotary Club Charities. A special thanks to the Boyne Valley Lions Club for supporting the installation of our logo and mission on the new truck later this summer. Everyone at Challenge Mountain expresses gratitude for the tremendous support from the community to purchase this vehicle. It will serve the organization and our participants well for years to come.
