Berks Park 78: Brings New Jobs to Region

As recently released to the press, Berks Park 78, located along Rt. 501 in Bethel Township, will be home to Fortune 500 Corporation, Dollar General.  This site is a 323-acre five-lot industrial park. It is estimated that Dollar General will be creating 500 new jobs.

 BCIDA Colored 7.6.12

Ludgate Engineering has worked closely with Blue Rock Construction and Berks County Industrial Development Authority (BCIDA) to make Berks Park 78 a reality. The project required a large amount of teamwork throughout the project, including subdivision, permitting, bidding of site work, and land development plans all at different stages in the planning process.

Recently the subdivision plan has been recorded, allowing Ludgate Engineering to work with Dollar General and their Engineer to modify the site layout for their proposed use and receive conditional final land development approval.

One factor that made this project a success was great teamwork throughout the project including the BCIDA, Ludgate, Blue Rock, Bethel Township and their consultants, the County, and outside governmental agencies. Berks Park 78, Bethel Township, Berks County, and Pennsylvania shall all benefit from the approximate 1,000 jobs created on these two projects. We are glad to see the project come together and the results are beneficial for the entire region.

"Landing Dollar General at Berks Park 78 was made
possible by a team of dedicated professionals
and public officials," said Thomas C. McKeon,
Executive Director of the Berks County Industrial
Development Authority. "They put the financing,
infrastructure, local incentives and permitting
in place that allowed us to compete like we
never have before with a true shovel-ready site."

Smart Growth Award    Sinking Spring Borough

  Receives First Smart Growth

     Award for Berks County

Sinking Spring Borough's Downtown Revitalization Plan, prepared by Ludgate Engineering Corporation, was recognized by the Berks County Smart Growth Alliance as a well-designed, well-deserving project.

This project will help to alleviate the "bottleneck" in Sinking Spring at two major intersections along Rt. 422.  This area is a crossroads for vehicular traffic (ie; cars, trucks, and buses), railroads, and fuel lines.  The re-aligning of these two intersections will affect the entire region.

This area is in the the Downtown zone which allows mixed use.  If you have any questions or are looking to develop, please feel free to contact Robert Ludgate Sr.,  PE, PLS.
