Dear Students and Families,
If you haven't gotten the chance to look at our 2017 Summer Programs, I strongly encourage you to do so! We are offering several wonderful opportunities for students AND adults! Things have been busy here at the Playhouse! We just finished up our production of Dr. Seuss's
The Cat In the Hat.
I hope you got to see it. We are also looking forward to our Season Nine Children's Series. See below!

Kids On Stage (NEW this summer)
|
|
Only a few spots left!
Session 1: June 26th - June 30th
(9:00AM-12:00PM)
Session 2: July 24th- July 28th
(9:00AM-12:00PM)
KIDS ON STAGE
(Kindergarten through Grade 5) focuses around the three disciplines of music, drama and the arts. Children will be introduced to theatre through creative play. Exercises and games will focus on acting through storytelling, creating a character, expressing a feeling, music, and movement. A craft and story will often be included. By the end of the class, students should be using their bodies and voices to start to create characters. Though the emphasis of the class will be on developing skills and not on a final performance, family and friends are invited to the last class to see student's present scenes. Students will be split throughout the day within an effort to maximize ability levels.

And, guess what! Your favorite artist instructors will be joining us for this program!
Tori Mo
oney is thrilled to be joining the Educat
ion Department at Playhouse on Park! She is no newbie to the Playhouse
or to teaching. She loves teaching the 5-8 year olds because the kiddos "usually" won't be taller than her.
You might recognize Tori from seeing her perform on the Playhouse on Park stage or at AC Petersen's on Monday nights at Mainstage Monday, as well as lots of productions at the Playhouse. In 2010, Tori started teaching at Hartford Children's Theatre, then was scooped up by Hartford Stage in 2013.
Emily Santarsiero was born and raised in Glastonbury, CT. While in CT she worked with various theaters such as The Hartford Children's Theater, Park Road Playhouse, Performing Arts Programs, The Hartbeat Ensemble & more. She is a 2014 graduate of Marymount Manhattan College's acting program. While in NYC she interned with CBS Primetime Casting, and since graduation she has been an acting teacher for The Warner Theater, Performing Arts Programs, & has been providing private acting lessons as well.
Anna Marie Russell is a California-born performer and choreographer who has been movin', groovin', and singing ever since she can remember! She was most recently seen at Playhouse on Park as Thing 2 in The Cat In the Hat, but has also appeared in A Chorus Line and Junie B. Jones. In addition, she can also be found next-door singing at Mainstage Monday! Anna has taught at a variety of studios and theaters, and in the spring of 2018, Anna will graduate from The Hartt School. In her spare time, Anna can be found reading, eating ice cream, and petting dogs.

Kyle and Mallory are back again!!!! Our wo
nderful Kevin Barlowski will also be joining us this summer! Mark your calendars! This summer program gives older elementary and middle school students (Grades 3 through 8)
instruction in acting, dance, and music. Each day, students will have a
schedule of classes and rehearsals.
*Guest artists will also be brought in to teach master classes in special topics.
There will be opportunities for instruction both in small groups and as an entire ensemble. The emphasis of the program is on developing strong performance skills. As part of that goal, each student will be featured in a final performance as a singer, actor, and dancer. Students will also have opportunities to develop
their own pieces during daily supervised rehearsals and will have a chance to perform their own "creative projects" for the rest of the
students in the program each Friday.
*Guest artists working with the students include Douglas Lyons and Jason Gotay, both with extensive Broadway credits, touring experience and more. Click here to read about Doug and Jason, as well as the rest of the faculty. |
