February is Black History Month – a month dedicated to highlighting and celebrating the important achievements and contributions that Black people have contributed to American history. In addition to celebrating Black culture, this month is also a great opportunity for families to explore and have conversations about the historical experiences of Black people in America, while reminding us that all Americans must shine a light on the injustice African Americans still face in this country. 
Suder Montessori School Reopening
Earlier today, CPS shared the good news that a tentative agreement has been reached with CTU regarding the return to in-person learning for CPS students. Please see the dates below:

  • Pre-K and Cluster Programs: Students and staff return on Thursday, February 11, 2021.
  • Kindergarten - Fifth Grade: Teachers and staff return on February 22. Students return on March 1, 2021.
  • Sixth - Eighth Grade: Teachers and staff return on March 1, 2021. Students return on March 8, 2021. 

Prior to the start of the fourth quarter, families who chose to continue learning at home will be offered another opportunity to return to school.

Suder Montessori is so excited to welcome our students back into the building the near future. I am sharing the E1 - MS Parent Presentation with families. The purpose of this presentation is to provide families with an overview of the Suder Montessori return to school plans in preparation for students’ return in the near future. All documents referenced in the presentation are below and will also be on the Suder website. Quarter 2 Report Cards
The second quarter ended on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Report Cards will be mailed to families the week of February 8, 2021. Grades can also be accessed on Aspen.

Welcome to the start of Quarter 3! Every student has an "A" at the start of the quarter. Be sure to stay on top of all of your school work in order to maintain the "A" for the Third Quarter. You can do it!
Parent Education Night - Talking to Children About Race
The Suder Montessori Parent Advisory Council would like to cordially invite you to the virtual Suder Montessori Parent Education Night entitled, Talking to Children About Race on February 24, 2021, at 5:30pm. Megan Hogan, Suder Counselor, will lead this session.
