Ceremonious End to Spring Semester

The arrival of Spring takes Condor pride to a new level. With special events and celebrations taking center stage, the entire school community is full of excitement and promise. The OC Foundation is proud to support and participate in many campus events.

Latino GDP Presentation

The Latino GDP Presentation was an incredible success. The event welcomed over 200 people in attendance, including students, community and business leaders who learned about the increasing economic impact of the Latino community from Dr. Matthew Fienup and Dr. David Hayes-Bautista, authors of the 2023 U.S. Latino GDP Report.

Their findings were supported by a panel of leaders, who voiced what they see on a local level. Special thanks to moderator, Jorge Mercado, and panelists Rebecca Evans, Dr. Cesar Morales, Dr. Gagan Pawar, and Miguel Noriega.

Family Festival

The third annual OC Family Festival attracted another large crowd of community members onto the Oxnard College campus.

Students and campus personnel hosted activities, games, and large kids fun zone. Roughly 3,500 attendees enjoyed live entertainment, shopping, food trucks, and access to over 40 community organizations.

Transfer Recognition Ceremony

The OC Foundation partnered with the University Transfer Center to acknowledge the academic success of Oxnard College students planning to transfer to four-year universities.

Scholarship grants were awarded to 56 transfer students, thanks to the charitable support of many community members.

STEM Recognition Ceremony

The OC Foundation is a proud supporter of the Oxnard College School of STEM. The standing-room only event was held in the Condor Cafe, where students recognized faculty members, alumni, transfer students, and graduates.

TRIO SSS Commencement

Twenty-six incredibly bright minds were recognized at the annual Student Support Services graduation.

Over 73% of Oxnard College's TRIO SSS students are both first-generation and low-income students paving the way toward a college degree not only for themselves, but for their families.

Fire Academy Graduation

Battalion 61 cadets completed their requirements to earn graduation honors.

The OC Foundation awarded 14 scholarships at the commencement exercises.

Athletic Alumni Hall of Fame

Three amazing members of the Oxnard College family were honored at the third annual OC Athletic Alumni Association Hall of Fame banquet.

Tenley Garcia (soccer) and Jon Larson (baseball) were inducted into the Hall of Fame. Marti Dibble received the prestigious Lifetime Condor Award, due to her long-time dedication to the Athletic Department.

Oxnard College Graduation

Students earning diplomas and certificates paraded into the Oxnard College Soccer Stadium in front of thousands of family and friends.

The OC Foundation visited with graduates before the commencement exercises to welcome them into the OC Alumni Network.

$275,000 awarded in scholarships.

$144,000 provided in campus program support.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Entering Application Deadline is June 21

For students attending Oxnard College for their first semester in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025, there is still time to apply for scholarship grants. The Entering Application will close on Friday, June 21 at 11:59pm, so apply now and don't miss this opportunity!

The OC Foundation awards over $250,000 in scholarship grants to Oxnard College recipients every year. Students are invited to attend weekly application workshops hosted by the OC Foundation and supported by the Library Learning Resource Center. Join us on OC Foundation Fridays with our workshops - offered both in-person and via Zoom. Students may sign up through our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/oxnardcollegefoundation.

Become a Scholarship Reviewer

Perhaps the greatest impact a volunteer can provide through the OC Foundation is becoming a reviewer to read and score scholarship applications. We have noted another increase in submitted applications, with over 40% of our students submitting their applications on the deadline date. With the success of extending our deadlines so more students can apply, we see the need for more Scholarship Reviewers to serve on the committees, which is where you can help!

With an average of 2-3 hours to review and score each batch of applications, Scholarship Reviewers will receive the training, support, and tools they need to be a part of a committee.

There are two remaining rounds of review this year:

  1. Continuing/Returning applications - June
  2. Entering applications - July

Details about scholarship applications and reviews are featured at:
