PROGRAMS CORNER

Did You Know DFSC Offers On-Demand Workshops?

Be sure to check out our on-demand workshops of some of our past Lunch-n-Learn and Powerful Women’s Group workshops on our website. Our subject focuses include: personal & professional development, career opportunities, and financial acumen.

To view our library of on-demand workshops, please visit our Career Advancement webpage to select a workshop. You will then be requested to register. The registration process helps us to track engagement so we can better understand the scope of purpose we provide in today’s career and workforce development landscape.

We are hoping to provide more support to women as we know busy schedules can make it challenging to attend some of our workshops in real time. We hope these on-demand workshops give you an opportunity to educate, enhance, encourage and empower you!

Chris Elridge

If you have any questions about any of our programming, or want more information, please feel free to call or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Your Hour Her Power: Your support makes a big difference

Our annual Your Hour Her Power campaign continues!

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Your Hour Her Power is inspired by the belief that when a woman has access to education and job resources, her contributions strengthen communities, increase organizational effectiveness and business results—and economies grow.

Throughout the month of March, we encourage everyone who can to donate one hour of their pay to help DFSC empower women to achieve economic independence.

Your support makes a big difference!

SUCCESS SPOTLIGHT: SASHA

Sasha before

Before

Sasha after

After

Sasha was a referral from Ohio Means Jobs who was feeling unsure about her upcoming interview with the Cleveland Metroparks. As part of DFSC’s styling toolkit services offered to every woman coming through our doors, she had a 1:1 session with a career coach.

During this session Sasha shared that she ultimately would like to work for the national park system as a ranger. However, she knew she would need to start at the entry level, so that is why she has been volunteering for the Cleveland Metroparks picking up debris on their trails.

Also in this career coaching session, Sasha shared that she would like to improve her communication skills. Sasha is particularly aware that she is not succinct in responding to questions. As a result, DFSC connected Sasha with the Next Job Mock Interview tool that enabled her to video record a live interview with the use of AI. Sasha then could watch herself answering the questions providing her own self-critique.

Sasha shared her apprehension regarding how she would feel by receiving our styling services being a trans female. Sasha got fitted for an interview outfit and was elated! She felt good about how she looked and was empowered by the tools DFSC introduced to her. She left feeling confident and ready for her interview.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS CORNER

Meet the Executive Committee

Our Executive Committee, the 2023–2025 officers of our board of directors, are getting ready to embark on our next three-year strategic plan. As you know, having a roadmap to get to your destination is key. Many organizations create strategic plans that never get revisited, but our Executive Committee is committed to our 2024 theme: Purpose, Preparedness and Progress to ensure DFSC is around another 25 years!
