A group of breast cancer advocates at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center say they've created a model for developing productive, successful and sustainable collaborations between advocates and scientists in cancer research.

A valuable cache of brain cancer biomedical data, one of only two such large collections in the country, has been made freely available to researchers worldwide, say researchers at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (
GIWPS) and the Global Social Enterprise Initiative (
GSEI) at the McDonough School of Business have been awarded a $1 million grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. The grant will support research on creating economic opportunities for women in fragile states.
