The adrenal glands are like your body’s own pharmacy. These tiny organs produce at least 50 different hormones, including cortisol, adrenaline, and DHEA. DHEA helps produce other hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Natural DHEA levels peak in early adulthood and then slowly fall as you age.The adrenals sit on top of each kidney and are responsible for several critical functions in the body. They help regulate blood sugar levels, manage stress response and inflammation, produce sex hormones (testosterone in men; estrogen/progesterone in women), support muscle growth—and that’s just a short list!
If you’re feeling tired or run down all the time (like many people do these days), it’s worth taking a closer look at your adrenal health to see if there might be something going on here (besides being tired).
