Time marches on despite my wish for a pause button. After watching YouTube videos and completing a 12-step driving cycle (in the wee hours), I finally got the Evap monitor in my 2009 Honda Fit to finish its self-test, and I passed the smog test. I know way more about OBCDII scanners, emission system monitors, and drive cycles than anyone should be asked to know. But Thank God for YouTube University; it did save me a second trip to the auto repair shop.

D and I are amid marital negotiations regarding packing the van as we head east. She is a minimalist; I am a survivalist. She wants to pack four rolls of toilet paper; I’m at a dozen (because it’s cheaper by the dozen, and RV toilet paper can be hard to source). We negotiate the number of blankets and pillows. Should it be homemade dog food, or should we try the freeze-dried natural stuff? She will be okay with a Subway sandwich daily, and I want to nuke something prepared to make it hot. And so negotiations proceed. Fortunately, I know all the secret hideaway places where I can stash my Cadbury

Easter creme eggs far away from our packing treaty.
