In the aftermath of the severe storms experienced in our community, it is crucial to stay informed and prepared for natural disasters. As we continue to recover, I encourage you to keep this list of resources handy and share it with your friends, family, and neighbors. Staying informed and prepared is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones during natural disasters.

We are grateful that President Joe Biden has approved a major disaster declaration for Texas to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding. Federal disaster assistance is now available for individuals and business owners who sustained losses. To apply for FEMA assistance, visit www.disasterassistance.gov.

If your home sustained any damage during the storm, please file a report with the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) iSTAT program at damage.tdem.texas.gov.

Based on preliminary and follow-up assessments, District J has shown to be minimally impacted except for pockets of no power. We are still asking residents to check on one another and to share any damages or hot spot areas.

Reports indicate that power is slowly being restored and relief is coming in small increments. Hopefully, as the days without power and heat continue, we all hold strong, patient, and resilient. I am sure we will get more information as time passes. Regarding messaging, we are staying in touch with our stakeholders and neighborhood leadership, and things seem to be stable under the circumstances.

We have our office Hot Team, Supplemental Maintenance Team, and Beautification Team working with our city departments to help lighten the load.
