How Elevate PreK Changes Benefits Preschoolers - and their Families

Registration is still open for the upcoming year of Elevate PreK, the highly successful initiative that provides free, year-round, high-quality preschool education to 4-year-olds.

The program, developed as part of the LAUNCH Flagstaff initiative at United Way of Northern Arizona, is in its fourth year and will be housed at Evergreen Academy Preschool in Flagstaff.

Designed to provide equitable access to high-quality early education, Elevate PreK is open to 4-year-old children in households that have incomes between 101% and 250% of the federal poverty level.

High-quality preschool education has proven long-term benefits for our youth, including increased income, higher employment rates, and better health outcomes.

These benefits of having children in day-long, year-round preschool ripple out to families and communities as well. Here are some of the testimonials Elevate PreK has earned during its first three years from families:

  • I was able to get a higher paying job. I could put in more hours when [my child] is in EPK. I could work almost full days.
  • I no longer have to work a second job. I am a better employee too.
  • We are a low-income family. We couldn't afford other programs around here. When we found out about EPK, we were more than thankful.
  • I’m super excited for him to go to kindergarten this upcoming year, because he's clearly ready.

Elevate PreK is made possible by funding from United Way of Arizona, the Wharton Foundation, the Arizona Community Foundation, the City of Flagstaff, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors, Coconino County Educational Service Agency, Desert Financial Credit Union, and PNC Bank.

Families interested in learning more about Elevate PreK, including whether they qualify for this free service, should call 928.326.8104 for more information. If you know of a family that might benefit from Elevate PreK, please forward this message to them. Thank you!
