Worship this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

This Sunday is Big Music Sunday. Our Chancel Choir and orchestra will present Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo, a musical exploration of Psalm 100, “O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands,” sung in seven languages, including Chinese, Hebrew, and Arabic.

Amid the sound of sacred music from one of the great chancel choirs in Michigan, you will experience intercessory prayer, reading and proclamation of holy scripture, and a sermon entitled, “Raising Up Leaders.” Based on John 21:15-25, we see Jesus interacting with some of his disciples, including Simon Peter. After Jesus’ resurrection, these men returned to their previous careers in fishing, and it was not going well. Their encounter with Jesus along the shores of the Sea of Tiberius offers meaningful insight into the nature of Christian leadership even in our time. In our polarized society and in a world teetering on the brink of global warfare, mature Christian leadership is needed to steer our world away from needless violence toward necessary community.

I invite you to worship with us this Sunday to hear a message to the nations “that the Lord who reigns above has sent us his Son to save us and show us that God is love. For the darkness shall turn to dawning and the dawning to noon-day bright, and Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom of love and light.”

Worship is at 9:30 a.m. (in-person and online) and 11:00 a.m. (in-person). Sunday School and Nursery Care are available at 9:30 a.m. Nursery Care is available at 11:00 a.m. There is a place for you here. I hope to worship with you this Sunday.

Upraising: Raising Up Leaders, John 21:15-25

Pastor Zack Dunlap preaching

Every disciple is a lifelong learner, but we are also lifelong leaders. This Sunday, as we continue our Upraising series, we’ll explore some of the essential traits of leadership in the church, in business, and in community. Whoever you are, there are people who look up to you – people you have the potential to influence for good. At our Potluck Brunch after worship, we will also have information about how you can lead within the life of our congregation in a variety of ministry areas.

Coming Up
