Worship this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

This Sunday we will begin to explore what the resurrection of Jesus Christ means for us. As Jesus was “raised up” to life, so we are called to raise one another up. This is what it means for you and me to be resurrection people. What does it look like to raise up children who know, love, and serve God in this world and how is the church called to participate in the upraising of each other? Join us for worship and Holy Communion at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The first Sunday of the month is always Family Worship Sunday so we look forward to welcoming our young disciples and modeling for them the way to be a gracious and loving community of faith.

We will also be honoring and thanking our incredible volunteers who generously dedicate their time and talents to support our community in countless ways. During the worship services, we will take a moment to express our deep gratitude for your selfless contributions and dedication. Your commitment truly makes a difference in the lives of many, and we want to celebrate you. Following the service, we invite you to stick around for cookies, coffee, and time to connect.

Blessings,

Rev. Susie Hierholzer

Blood Pressure Checks

The first Sunday of every month our First Nurses will provide complementary blood pressure checks during Coffee Hour between services in Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.

Most teas that are certified as fair trade come from large plantations where workers have no voice or power. The small farmers who grow Equal Exchange teas control their own land and livelihoods. Please join us for a retirement celebration honoring Mary Feldmaier. We will gather in Fellowship Hall on Sunday, April 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to celebrate Mary's incredible contributions and wish her well on her next chapter. We look forward to seeing you there!

Endowment Updates

The Endowment Board was pleased to approve a grant request from our Staff Parish Relations Committee for the support of a Scholar in Residence who will be with our congregation from May 2024 to April 2025. The Rev. Dr. George Klay Weagba, Vice President for Research and Planning of the United Methodist University in Monrovia, Liberia will complete his sabbatical leave with us at Birmingham and Berkley First. During his time with us, Dr. Weagba will preach, teach, visit parishioners, and speak to small and large organizations and journey groups. He will offer his services, upon invitation, to different ministries of our congregation. An ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church, he is a clergy delegate from Liberia to the 2024 General Conference of The United Methodist Church. His service with our congregation will begin following General Conference on May 5, 2024.

Donation of a Vehicle Request

Do you have a car or truck you are hoping to offload soon? We are in search of a vehicle for Dr. George Weagba who will be joining us as our Scholar in Residence for one-year beginning in early May. Endowment has funded his stipend, but now we are looking for a way for him to get around. We will pay you for your vehicle, but hope you will keep in your heart who it will be helping. Dr. Weagba is an ordained elder of 31 years in the United Methodist Church and has a broad background in pastoral ministry and higher education. He will preach, teach, provide sacraments, administer the church through pastoral guidance, and lead the congregation in service ministry.

If you or a family member have a car you could part with, please call Melissa Peirce at your earliest convenience, 248-765-0821. Thank you for your kind consideration.
