After 33 years of faithful commitment to the mission of the church, Mary Feldmaier will be retiring on March 31, 2024. Mary, and her husband Bob, joined Birmingham First in 1974. Mary shared her gifts and time with several committees and other volunteer roles for many years before joining our staff in 1991. Since then, Mary has served as a director for children’s choirs, Nursery Coordinator, Parent’s Day Out Director, Preschool Director, Director of Membership and Congregational Care, and currently serves as our Director of Membership and Connecting Hospitality.

Mary has gathered and empowered a strong group of lay people to provide hospitality and care for our community. She has been a source of knowledge and support for the staff and clergy that has enhanced our ministry, and Mary’s gift for building relationships with people has resulted in more than 1,600 people joining the church during her tenure. A celebration for Mary’s retirement will be held on April 14. Details of the celebration will be coming soon. Please share your appreciation with Mary and join us in thanking her for serving God and the church as a member of our staff.
