Worship this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. | |
Dear Friends,
On Sunday, June 16, I will be back in the pulpit at Birmingham First for worship at 10:00 a.m. The sermon is titled, “Fear,” based on Matthew 14: 22-33. Here Jesus helps his disciples understand and believe in the power of God to do more than we can imagine or do on our own. The story of Peter sinking in the water when he took his eyes off of Jesus and saw the high waves exposes what life is without our eyes being fixed on Jesus. This story also helps us to understand and trust that, when God is with us and when we have our priorities anchored in God, nothing is impossible.
-
June 23 – Worship at 10:00 a.m. in the Christian Life Center (CLC) for a church-wide VBS Celebration and a sermon by Pastor Zack Dunlap.
-
June 30 – I will preach the sermon titled, “Action Speaks Louder Than Words,” based on Matthew 21: 28-32. This message shares insight into how faithfulness to God’s requirements of us shapes our relationship to God. The parable of the man with two sons and how each son responds to the Father’s request is an inspiring story of Christian discipleship. We will look at whether and how this story relates to each of us and God’s request to us. The authenticity of our witness has more to do with our fidelity to God’s commandments than our verbal proclamations.
Worship this summer is at 10:00 a.m. You may attend in-person or online. Children will begin worship in the Sanctuary, then after a Children's Moment, they will be invited to the CLC or onto the playground (weather permitting) with our Sunday School teachers and volunteers. Nursery Care is available.
Come and share in the joy of worship and praise of our God in whom we live, move, and have our being.
I look forward to worshipping with you,
Rev. Dr. Charles S. G. Boayue, Jr.
Senior Pastor

Pastor Zack preaching
“Accept and Instruct One Another”
Romans 15:7-14
Relationships are essential to life and certainly to our life as Church together. This Sunday, as we continue to explore our interactions with one another as siblings in Christ, Pastor Zack will expound on the need for us to accept and instruct one another. Accepting and instructing can seem mutually exclusive, but when held together by the hope of the gospel, they are inextricably linked. Discover more this Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. worship service, then stick around and build relationships at our monthly Potluck Brunch.

For Scuba VBS, help us make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families in need. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of the VBS week, which breaks down to $20 in fundraising efforts per participating camper and volunteer. Your VBS Directors have organized four fantastic fundraising efforts, the “Cans, Cups, Coins, and Cars” campaign, to reach this goal. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will support education and clean water initiatives for families in La Corroza, Honduras.
