WSU SAFE Program for Seniors in Need

We are seeking volunteers to lead webinars on financial planning and literacy tailored to older adults for the Wayne State University Institute of Gerontology's SAFE program. These webinars are part of their monthly ZOOM series on Financial Gerontology, held the first Friday of the month. If you're interested in presenting, please contact Sandy Adams with your topic proposals.

**Also email Sandy if you're interested in offering Pro Bono one-on-one consulting sessions to seniors in need, should we be able to offer these sessions after the webinars.**

Volunteers Needed to Help Military & Veterans!

Coordinated Assistance Network (CAN) and the Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP) have joined forces to provide free financial guidance and advice to low-to-moderate-income military personnel.

CFP® volunteers will conduct no-cost virtual, one-on-one consultations with veterans, service members, and their families, with the goal of helping them navigate uncertain financial times. CAN is a cloud-based digital technology, specializing in matching veteran needs with the services (including pro bono financial guidance) of nonprofit providers nationwide.

In partnership with CAN, FFP will support CFP® volunteers by conducting quarterly onboarding video calls to demo the platform as well as providing one-on-one training and tech support. Volunteers are offered tools to support the engagements, including a document hub, file management section, calendar/video chat feature, resource directory, financial calculators, and more.

FPA MI | June Webinar

Is Today's Older Homeowner Sitting on a Gold Mine?

Thursday, June 20th | 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm | Virtual through Zoom

Stay at your workstation and experience a virtual presentation with Jerry Auippa, CRMP of Longbridge Financial, LLC. Elderly homeowners own close to $13 Trillion in home equity, and many are struggling with a financial plan that fully funds their lifetime expenses, yet financial advisors often overlook this hidden wealth. Why? In this 1-hour presentation, we take a deep dive into the FHA Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) and new attractive and low-cost proprietary products to understand how it can improve the retirement plans of clients, protect against longevity risk, be optimized to fit with client goals, and to do so in an ethical and compliant manner. Home equity is one of the largest sources of assets for clients, and reverse mortgages can unlock this hidden wealth in a safe and standardized manner. With new, best interest and compliance standards for financial advisors, the value of considering home equity in the planning process is growing. ď»żThis presentation is pending approval for 1 CFP CE.
