Legacy Leader: Bishop Joseph Charron | |
Bishop Joseph Charron connects deeply with the mission and theological meaning behind Catholic Charities and the tremendous good the organization does. He served as Bishop for the Diocese of Des Moines for 13 years and witnessed a great time of growth and expansion for the organization. Reflecting on the work of Catholic Charities, Bishop Charron notes the importance of the organization, not just because of the programs and services offered, but the “why” behind what the organization stands for and what it does for the people it serves.
During his time as Bishop, he offered his guidance and discernment to help lead Catholic Charities into the future. Bishop Charron also acknowledges the great leaders Catholic Charities has along with the dedicated members of Board of Directors, staff and volunteers who live out the organization’s mission every day.
“Catholic Charities has been so successful because it has been lived out by generations of people committed to its mission,” said Bishop Charron. “That is part of the real power of a faith-based organization, when you have people there who are really living out their faith, it makes a real difference.”
