MSA Student Council is continuing to grow its leadership team and pleased to announce the appointments of Communication Chair, Regional Liaison Chair, and eight Regional Liaisons.
Shardai Johnson, Communication Chair, will oversee the Student Council social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and help coordinate outbound communications. She is a graduate student at Tuskegee University in the Material Science and Engineering program and her current research is centered on the morphological effects of low temperature plasma on hydrothermal carbonization of catalyzed waste coffee. She is looking forward to bridging students across different disciplines with the Microscopy Society of America.
Erica Stevens, Regional Liaison Chair, will oversee the Student Council membership campaign and coordinate efforts for the Regional Liaisons. She is a third-year Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D. student at the University of Pittsburgh working under Dr. Markus Chmielus. Her primary research focuses on additive manufacturing of functional materials, particularly magnetocaloric materials.
The Regional Liaisons will focus on promoting MSA Student Council, develop relationships with undergraduate and graduate students and Local Affiliated Societies in their region, and encourage involvement in MSA Student Council activities at Microscopy and Microanalysis.
