Guide to Early Childhood Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education

Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program in the Texas Health and Human Services Commission that serves both children and their families from birth up to age three. Children with developmental disabilities, delays, or medical diagnoses may be eligible for ECI services. Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services are for children three through five years of age. These services are provided through local school districts and charter schools. Next Steps to Independence: Skills and Strategies

The Next Steps to Independence checklist provides the ability to monitor continued progress on skills needed for future success. Families can use this tool to reflect on their child’s achievements, consider any areas of concern, and when to collaborate with educators. SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES (SSES)

What is SSES?

Supplemental Special Education Services (SSES) are $1,500 one-time

online grants for eligible parents/caregivers of eligible students served by special education that have been impacted by COVID-19 school closures. Families of eligible students can use the online accounts to obtain educational materials, resources, and/or services such as additional speech therapy or other specific services.
