What is Child Find?

Child Find is legally required and is an important first step to finding children with disabilities and getting them the support and services they require to be successful in school. Schools are required to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities living in their area who may need special education and related services. Learn more here.

Supporting Independence for Your Child With the Next Steps Checklist

Join us for this free statewide webinar on April 26th, 2023, at 12:15 p.m. (CST). The Next Steps to Independence checklist, available on the Texas Transition website, provides a framework to develop skills for self-determination in adulthood for individuals with disabilities. This tool highlights critical developmental milestones organized by age: birth-age 3, age 3-5, elementary school, middle school, high school, and age 18-22. SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES (SSES)

What is SSES?

Supplemental Special Education Services (SSES) are $1,500 one-time

online grants for eligible parents/caregivers of eligible students served by special education that have been impacted by COVID-19 school closures. Families of eligible students can use the online accounts to obtain educational materials, resources, and/or services such as additional speech therapy or other specific services.
