Attitude Is Everything

Starting the Week Off Right

April 24, 2023

Good Morning,

Promises are so easy to make. "I promise you as soon as - - , When elected I will, - - " If you do this for me, I will - - ." The list goes on and on, you fill in the blanks with your favorite one. When these promises are broken, it has become too easy to blame someone or something for breaking them. "I would have but - - " is said over and over.

Promises kept signify trust. You will do what you say. They should be treated as commitments and not just idle comments and ways to get off the hook.

We all make promises. We all break them, some of us more than ever. The message for all of us is to ask the question: Am I really going to do it or am I just saying something to pacify others and, yes, sometimes even ourselves. Promises mean commitment, commitment to taking some kind of action.

Far better to say, honestly, I can't do it; I don't have the time; I don't have the desire; I don't believe in the cause; or whatever your reality is. than promising and breaking them. Trust is earned and once broken, nearly impossible to fix.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Have a great week.
