Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation & Stress Reduction
This short course provides you an opportunity to become familiar with, or continue to practice, the basic, time-tested,
focusing,
relaxing and
restorative qualities of Mindfulness Meditation. We'll explore how meditation helps us improve
brain function,
lower stress levels, and
be more balanced and healthy. You'll learn useful tools for identifying and managing stress in skillful and gentle ways.
While this 8-week course is not the traditional MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) course co-led by Jon and Luann at Dream Yoga Studio, instructions will be given in all of the various meditation postures including sitting, kneeling, standing, walking and gentle mindful movement. Each class also includes a session of restorative, deep relaxation in the reclining posture. Many find this practice an important pre-requisite prior to establishing and sustaining an individualized daily meditation practice.
