Brazilian students cheer on Bobcat basketball

Gina Napoli | March 19, 2024

In February, international students from Brazil brought their best cheers and contagious energy to Ohio basketball games. Each student was a part of the Latin American Institute of Business or LAIOB, the “official representative of OU in Latin America, (which) is part of the university’s hall of international partners.” The institute consists of programs that focus on strategic marketing management, corporate finance, management and project management. LAIOB is also implemented in other Ohio colleges such as Miami and Akron. Click here to read the full story.

No current plans to add gender-inclusive bathrooms in Alden Library

Suzanne Piper | March 19, 2024

Most students have their favorite floor of Alden Library; for some, it’s the fourth floor with the big booths, the third-floor CoLab with pink walls or the quiet study space on the seventh floor full of diligent students. Regardless of the seventh floor’s popularity, it is one of the library’s floors that lacks gender-inclusive bathroom options. The first and sixth floors only have a male restroom and the seventh floor only has a female restroom; all three floors have no single-use restrooms or accessible bathroom stalls. Floors two, three, four and five have both a male and female restroom, at least one single-use bathroom stall and an accessible bathroom. Not only is there a lack of equitable bathroom options in Alden, but the university’s campus buildings also indicate more male restrooms than female and unisex bathrooms. Baseball: What to know for Northern Kentucky

Robert Keegan III | March 19, 2024

Coming in with a rocky start to Mid-American Conference action, Ohio will be looking to add to its overall win total in a tough non-conference game against Northern Kentucky. After losing its opening conference series against Northern Illinois two weeks ago, Ohio was able to gain momentum with back-to-back wins to start its series against Kent State before falling on Sunday. Ohio will look to keep things rolling against a hot Northern Kentucky squad.  Primarily, Ohio will be looking for a better performance out of its pitching staff after allowing 22 total runs in its most recent game against MAC rival Kent State. The Bobcat pitching staff has allowed just under 8 earned runs per game to start the season. Here is all you need to know for Tuesday.

Blabby Abby: Big cities, introverts do not mix

Abby Jenkins | March 19, 2024

I have recently returned from a Spring Break trip to New York City and despite the travel exhaustion and the inevitable return to classes, I wanted to revisit a certain anxiety trigger for myself and others: big cities. Medical News Today said urban areas can cause an uptick in stress and anxiety in some individuals. As an introvert from the suburbs, there is definitely some truth to that. Despite being from Cleveland, where I’ve been downtown several times, some cities are literally triple the size and therefore triple the amount of stress. New York was like the final boss of an anxiety-themed video game. Click here to read the full story.
