Welcome to the Fall 2023 Semester

Student Hiring and Payroll Onboarding

How to Hire

Student Job Codes

  • Available student job codes are listed on Access Tufts.
  • When determining the job code, remember that Student Workers are generally classified as non-exempt and paid hourly. Only exception are teaching and research assistants.

Work-Study

  • All student workers who are coded as Job Code 9000/Earnings Code 021 will automatically be paid using work study funding (75% work study funds and 25% Department funds) if they were awarded work study for the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Work study funds are available starting September 1, 2023.

Multiple Jobs

  • Students can have two jobs in the same home department, but not with the same job code. For example, a student can hold a work-study and a non-work study job in the same home department.
  • Students who hold work study jobs in more than one department may deplete their funding more quickly. The work study job code will automatically use Department funds if work study funds are depleted.
