Palmer Park Prologue set as Stage 1 Course for the 2023 Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox

Colorado Springs, CO -- Back by popular demand and opening the 2023 Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox is our time trial in Palmer Park - one of Colorado Springs' most popular parks in town! An integral course to this three-day event on September 8-10, the Palmer Park Prologue time trial allows riders to test, or even break, their personal record!

With over 20 miles of trails and amazing views of downtown and the front range, this is a popular destination for locals to hike and bike. From the two western lookouts on top of the mesa, you can see the front range all the way from Palmer Lake and the Air Force Academy down to the tips of the Spanish Peaks south of Pueblo. The trails are a wide mix of different terrain — all the way from wide open crushed gravel walking paths to technical rock drops that will push the top riders (yes, there are ride-around options).

PPORA + Stewardship Fund

The Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance (PPORA) is pleased to transition this exciting mountain bike and trail running event, following its launch during COVID and successive two years in 2021 and 2022, to Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

"We feel confident that the race will only grow and flourish under the skillful management of the Sports Corp team," says Becky Leinweber, PPORA Executive Director. "The race is ready for this exciting next step, and we are thrilled that it will continue to be directed by Micah Rice, not missing a beat as it looks to September 2023."

PPORA will remain a close partner, supporting the event and maintaining the "give back" charitable aspect of the event which will continue to benefit the PPORA Stewardship Fund. To date, the fund has invested over $20,000 directly into our local trail development, maintenance, and improvement. The Sports Corp team is thrilled to be working with the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance on this incredible stewardship fund.
