Still the New Guy

Yes... still the new guy. If you were at the Business Appreciation Reception (see video) you know I am still the new guy (exactly how many days).  Seriously-the Reception was fantastic and thank you to all who were able to make it and learn from our guests, our award winners, and network with one another.
 
It is all about ideas, creativity, and networking. In fact, I am writing my comments from a conference with international companies seeking US expansion-together with our friends and colleagues from VEDP and around the Commonwealth.

Please take a moment to consider "What's Next" for your business and Stafford. And do not hesitate to share it with our office or others in your network and the community.

Tourism Spending Up in Virginia
Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Virginia's tourism industry generated $26 billion in visitor spending across all communities in 2018, a 4.4 percent increase over 2017.   In 2018, tourism in Virginia supported 234,000 jobs for Virginia communities, a 1% increase from 2017. The tourism industry also provided $1.8 billion in state and local revenue, an increase of 2.9% compared to 2017.    Read more >>
Women and Minorities 8A Entrepreneur Recap
Over 28 guests attended the Women and Minorities 8A Entrepreneur Event's annual workshop at UMW Stafford Campus this past month. The 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses. The 8(a) Program offers a broad scope of assistance to firms that are owned and controlled at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.      Read more>>
