Friends,

Things are going to get a lot quieter around here at campus starting today. That’s right, school is out for the summer! it is kind of sad because we will miss all the joy and life they bring to Saint Charles. The kids are excited and I am sure your parents are excited as well as experiencing a little bit of trepidation wondering how you will organize and occupy your children’s time the next 2+ months until school starts in mid-August. 

We have an awesome Academy and our numbers are really looking good for next year. Definitely excited and hearts full praise for what God is doing here. I want to thank Mr. Moeller and Miss Smith for their solid, competent, and pastoral leadership in the school. Dear teachers, thank you for pouring out day after day into the children’s hearts. I see it day after day! And parents thank you for your beloved children! What a special place of God‘s presence, growth and learning. 

I continue to invite you to enter into the life of the church. School is only a few short years, but church is for a lifetime. Remember, there is no vacation from your vocation to love the Lord above all else. When we do that we will have peace in the midst of anxiety; direction in the midst of confusion. We will also be fulfilling our number one vocation/calling to get our children to heaven! 

Last Sunday in the church universal (yes, 1.5 billion people on every continent) as we celebrated the Body and Blood of our Lord, we renewed our belief that Jesus gives us his infinite goodness and life in the Eucharist. It is a given that he has given us everything but what is not a given is if we have received it with open hands. I use the image of open hands when we receive Jesus at communion in the Eucharist. Yes, our hands might be physically open but they can really be a fist which is refusing the offer. I just wanted to share with you my podcast homily for last week. I believe Jesus wants you to personally know and have the Eucharist but you have to make a move for it. The first step you would need to take is to call me and we can talk. :-) Here is my homily.

Finally, I am going to Australia for the first two weeks of July. It’s a really cool God story but I won’t tell you about it unless I hear from you that you would like to hear.
