Thank You, St. Philip’s!
A note from Connie Rink, Home Missions Team
A huge THANK YOU for choosing to donate, volunteer and help spread the word for our blood drive! The results are in with a fantastic response from St Philip’s and our community reaching our goal of 46 units collected! Last Tuesday’s blood drive combined with our June 2023 drive capped off by far the most successful year we’ve ever had at St. Philip’s, with a total of 100 units for 2023! What that means for our Lowcountry hospitals and patients is that up to 300 lives have been positively impacted or saved––which is super AWESOME!
It truly was a beautiful day of fellowship and giving as the excellent Red Cross team, our parishioners, and our community came together for this lifesaving event. One of our parishioners, who has been a faithful donor for many years, noted that this donation experience was the best he had ever had. I shared this compliment with the very nice young lady who had managed this parishioner’s donation. She smiled and said, “I treat everyone just like I would want to be treated.” I think that pretty much sums up what makes our drives so successful: Those who are able are obeying the call. Luke 6:31 states, “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” For that, we say, “Thanks be to God!”
Stay tuned for upcoming announcement of our 2024 blood drive dates in your eSPIRE newsletter!

Calling all Crafters!
Do you have a special talent for crafts that you could teach easily to our members to make and sell at the Tea Room gift shop? Think jewelry, ornaments, wreaths ... really anything! Our hope is to have several evenings for the women of the church to come together in fellowship and fun while stocking our gift shop.
Contact Caroline Fitzgerald at (843) 696-5843 if you are interested in filling this need!

Since Paul Reese joined the ministry team in August and played his first Sunday service on September 3, we've seen him in a number of different music department roles: organist, pianist, violinist, conductor, precentor at Evensong ... the list probably goes on!
And in fact, the list definitely got a little longer last week, when Paul pulled out an air compressor, some caulk, a drill, and a hammer and went to work on the front door of the church office, which had had some trim knocked off during a run-in with a stroller a few days earlier (don't ask whose–it's a secret). The large cracks on each side of the door had been there for years, but Paul went ahead and tended to them while he was in the area. Most church organists take care of things like this, right?
If you follow St. Philip's on social media, you already knew about this little-known music department duty. But if you don't, why don't you take a minute right now to give us a follow so that you, too, can be among the first to hear about schedule changes, special events, and somewhat odd office happenings?
