Worship at St. Peter's

This Sunday, May 26, we have the privilege of having Rev. Dr. Kathy Sizer bring the message This Is the Life! from John 3:1-10, 16-17.

St. Peter's wants to ensure you get the most out of in-house worship. If you are having difficulties hearing the message, sound-amplifying devices are available at the back of the Sanctuary. Ask an usher to assist you.

Rob and Maxine Verch give the FLOWERS this Sunday in celebration of their 38th wedding anniversary.

MUSIC NOTES

To God Be the Glory

A favorite English revival hymn was popularized by the Billy Graham Crusades in the United States…but the unique fact about the hymn was that it had been written in the mid-19th century in the United States by Fanny Crosby. It became well-known in England and was learned by the Graham team when they were conducting revivals in Great Britain, and they brought it back into the hymn repertoire of U.S. churches when they reintroduced it in 1952.

Fanny Crosby was among the most influential Christian lyricists of her day, composing the lyrics to thousands of hymns (such as ‘Blessed Assurance,’ ‘I Am Thine O Lord’ (Draw Me Nearer), and ‘Near the Cross’), and her words were used by the most well-known of Christian composers. Although she was a lifelong Methodist, her music has been sung by Christians of every denomination.

To God Be the Glory, our opening hymn this week, has only two verses, but it is a well-loved and powerful hymn that calls our attention both to the gift of God (‘…so loved he the world that he gave us His son.’) and to the value of that gift (which ‘opened the life-gate that all may go in.’)

Exodus - Learning to Trust God

Trust God. Sounds simple, right? Yet, you know it is often very, very difficult to trust God with the things that matter most to you--money, career, marriage, health. As we study the book of Exodus, we'll see that Israel faced similar struggles to trust God completely. In this story of hardship and hope, we'll discover along with Israel that God--and God alone--is worthy of our trust.

Bring your favorite Bible as we read and discuss the Israelites’ journey out of Egypt, prompted by discussion questions from the Life Guide series.

Seven Powerful

Claims of Christ

In the Gospel of John, Jesus uses “I Am” statements that tell his listeners exactly who he is: the Bread of Life; the Light of the World; the Gate; the Good Shepherd; the Resurrection and the Life; the Way, the Truth, and the Life; and the True Vine. These claims infuriated the religious leaders and eventually led to Jesus’ crucifixion. This six-session study examines Jesus’ extraordinary claims and shows how Jesus provides, protects, guides, saves, and gives everything we need to grow in spiritual maturity.

Join us on Saturdays as we explore the Seven Powerful Claims of Christ.
