Dear Friends,
The Personnel Committee is pleased to announce the search for a new Music Director is now complete.
We are thrilled to present Malila Hollow as the new Music Director here at St. Peter’s. After completing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at California State University, Long Beach, Malila went on to earn her Master’s two years later, graduating summa cum laude. She has a depth of experience as a collaborative pianist and music educator. She is passionate about choral music and looking forward to leading our choir. This September, she begins a teaching credential program in music at California State University, Fullerton, which will serve to nurture and expand her current skills and training. Malila’s official start date is Monday, August 5. We are eager for her to meet our choir in person and for you all to get to know her as well.
There is so much more about Malila that brought the Personnel Committee to the unanimous decision to invite her to serve among us. I want to express my gratitude to Maxine Verch, the Personnel Committee, Stan DeWitt, and others who participated in the interview process. The long legacy of excellent music that has been established here will continue.
on the way outside,
Rev. Dr. Steve Wright, Pastor
A note from Malili -
Greetings from Seattle, everyone! I hope that you all are enjoying the beginning of your summer, whatever it may be filled with. I am very much looking forward to meeting and getting to know you all as we begin this new journey together. Take time to relax, take part in something new, and count your blessings - for this life we all are given is incredibly sacred. God bless you all, and I will see you in August!

St. Peter's wants to ensure you get the most out of in-house worship. If you are having difficulties hearing the message, sound-amplifying devices are available at the back of the Sanctuary. Ask an usher to assist you.

MUSIC NOTES
Praise Ye the Lord,
the Almighty
Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty is this Sunday’s closing hymn. It is a testament to the reverence for God held by a young German, Joachim Neander, whose life turned from harassing congregations at worship to becoming an assistant to the pastor. After his conversion, he taught at a school in Dusseldorf and tutored young men in their walk with Christ while continuing as a pastor.
At the age of 30, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, and after just ten years of loving and serving God, he passed from this life. He wrote Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty during his illness, and it expresses his faith that no matter who or what God allows in our lives, whether pleasant or unpleasant, we can trust and praise Him.
The Presbyterian Hymnal ‘Glory to God’ states, “This very strong 17th-century German hymn employs many phrases from the psalms, especially 150 and 103:1-6. It did not receive an effective English translation until the mid-19th century, but it has remained popular ever since, thanks partly to its stirring tune.”

Exodus - Learning to Trust God
Trust God. Sounds simple, right? Yet, you know it is often very, very difficult to trust God with the things that matter most to you--money, career, marriage, health. As we study the book of Exodus, we'll see that Israel faced similar struggles to trust God completely. In this story of hardship and hope, we'll discover along with Israel that God--and God alone--is worthy of our trust.
Bring your favorite Bible as we read and discuss the Israelites’ journey out of Egypt, prompted by discussion questions from the Life Guide series.

Life Lessons from
James, by Max Lucado
Do your Monday actions reflect your Sunday worship? How about your claims to faith? Is your life full of noticeable changes and actions?
James, the half-brother of Jesus, wasn't impressed with talk. He knew that a life of faith was all about actions that revealed a difference in a person's life. For him, it was not that works save the Christian but that they mark the Christian. In his letter, he boldly deals with practical issues of faith not bound by culture or place. He shows the importance of living a genuine life of faith. His message is bare-knuckled as he encourages, challenges, and confronts, offering practical words and admonitions to live out our faith.
