What's happening this week at St. Paul's

July 2-8, 2023

Upcoming Events & News

Due to the nature of this past week, the July Epistle will be published next week. Thank you- Katie

New Directory: We are in the final stages of printing directories and making them available to the congregation. Several members are being contacted for permission to make a change to their privacy settings in Realm (our Church Manage Software) in order to be included in the directory. Once everyone has been contacted, we will print copies and have them available in the Narthex for you to pick up.

Office Closed: The office will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th. Katie will be available Monday and normal hours will resume on Wednesday, July 5th.

Altar Flowers Needed: Volunteers for supplying the altar flowers in July are needed. Sundays available are the 23rd and 30th. Please contact Jo Cargill-Krug to reserve one of these dates.

Fourth of July Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to hand out water bottles at the park by the river for the firework celebrations next Tuesday, July 4th. Shifts needed are 5-6pm and 6-7pm. Please contact Sarah Harmon to be added to the list.

Forward Day by Day: The August, September, and October issue of Forward Day by Day has arrived and will be available for you to pick up this Sunday in the Narthex and in the office during the week. We will also mail you a copy if you wish – please call or email Katie if you would like her to mail one to you.

Discretionary Fund: This Sunday, the loose plate offering (gifts not designated for pledges, building, etc.) will be deposited into the Rector’s Discretionary Fund.

Rector’s Discretionary Fund: The Rector’s Discretionary Fund will continue to be used to support our Community Meals while Fr. Jim is on sabbatical. In addition, money will be sent to a local social service agency where we will refer people who come to St. Paul’s for assistance with their rent or utilities. Our Senior Warden, Hayes Olson, is also authorized to draw from this account to provide assistance to members of St. Paul’s who are in need. Your continued support is appreciated.

Choral Evensong: Members of our choir will offer Choral Evensong on Sunday, July 23rd at 5:00 pm with Sarah Harmon officiating.

Bible Study: Kristian Ameigh will lead a bible study beginning on Sunday, July 9th at 2pm. Material will be obtained from The Gospel According to Improv by Les Carpenter; you are not required to purchase the book to attend the study.

Community Meal Teams: We have eight teams that rotate the responsibility of offering our community meals on Wednesday evenings. Some of these teams would benefit from having a few more volunteers. If you would like to get involved serving on a team, please let Katie know and she will pass your name along. Thanks.

Care Team Collection: The Care Team will be collecting personal care items to be distributed. There will be a basket to collect items at the front of the church as well as a box in the church office. Items to bring can include: travel size toothpaste and toothbrushes, dental floss, Kleenex, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, wipes, washcloths, deodorant, sunscreen, bug spray, feminine hygiene products and other toiletries.

Bishop Candidate Meet-and-Greets: Four churches across the diocese are hosting meet-and-greet sessions with the candidates for the 14th Bishop of Arkansas: the Rev. Canon John T. W. Harmon (Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, DC) and the Rev. Mary Vano (St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock).
