Greening the Congregation

Our first interest meeting in early February showed that there is much support at St. Mark's for the mission of greening our congregation. We decided to focus our attention in the coming months on five "Green Fields" that are important to us. They are: 1.) Building and Grounds;
2.) Education;  3.) Worship;  4.) Advocacy;  5.) Community Engagement. We hope to bring many more people into the process of planning and implementation, and we are inviting you to join us at our next meeting, which will be on  Thursday, February 22, at 6 p.m.  in the Fireside Room at St. Mark's.

Walking to Jerusalem Update - Week 5

Having covered 5,712 miles so far, we continue our travel on the container ship St. Laurent. The ocean occupies our attention as we exercise on deck. We have heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but observe there is also plastic floating in the North Atlantic. Finding plastic floating in the middle of the Atlantic forces us to confront our impact on God's creation. We end the evening enjoying song and dance with Slack Key guitar music offered by several crew members from the island of Molokai. They inspire and delight us. Keep paddling. We will reach landfall soon.

Women of St. Mark's

Please join us on  Wednesday, February 21, at 4 p.m. to discuss requests for Bazaar funds and help us determine distribution.

We will have a table in the Narthex in a couple of weeks; please stop by. Your help is needed with desserts, setup, and cooking.  We will provide all the recipes for the desserts. We will have a planning session on  Wednesday, February 21 after we decide on the Bazaar Funds distribution.  Please join us and help make this a spectacular event for the women.

Witnessing to God's Grace by Helping Incarcerated Women and their Families

A huge thank you to all who attended our St. Valentine's Celebration here at St. Mark's on Saturday, February 10. The event, organized by Empowering Life, raised funds to support Lutheran pastoral care at the Washington Correction Center for Women in Gig Harbor (Purdy) and Mission Creek Correction Center for Women in Belfair.  And a special thanks to all who pitched in to help make it a fun, successful event.

Thank You from Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community

People of St. Mark's,

As you are aware, this is not an easy time for seniors. With the decline in pensions, investments, and seniors living longer, many are worried about money. And for good reason.

Thank you for your gift, which will be used to help those residents who have outlived their financial resources. Your gift ensures that all residents, regardless of their financial status, enjoy TLRC and ensure peace of mind.

On behalf of the residents who benefit from your generosity, thank you!

Sincerely,
Robin Echtle
Executive Director, TLRC Foundation

Thank You from Associated Ministries

People of St. Mark's,

Thank you for your gift to Associated Ministries. Because of your generous support, Associated Ministries is able to respond to the needs of thousands of people. You are the source of hope and wonderful possibilities for families who are grappling with homelessness. Most families want to make their own way and just need a little bit of help to do that. Your kindness makes all the difference for them and encourages us in working with people who have the most significant needs imaginable.

Thank you for making their success possible.

Sincerely,
Micahel A. Yoder
Executive Director
