Epiphany Event January 6, 2018 at 5pm.  

The Wise Men from the east will be passing by Saint Mark's on January 6th. "Epiphany" On their way to find the new King, Jesus. Fun will be had by all! Good food, great company, wise men, camels, maybe even a surprise! Bring the family and friends. It all starts at 5:00 pm.

Interfaith Tea
 
Interfaith Tea Monday January 8th at 6:30pm, UP Library.  We will be hosting.

Community Group "Third Quarter"

Christian friends in the "third quarter" of life are welcome to join others age 50ish -75ish in supportive community to share hope, laughter, and love through active events.  

Thursday January 11 at 6:00 in the Parish Commons. Pot Luck and panel discussion of the joys and challenges while living in the third quarter of life.

Thursday February 8 at 5:00, Pot Luck with our Fourth Quarter friends

Thursday March 15 (Third Thursday free museums) 6:00 at Chihuly Museum of Glass. Optional happy hour dinner meet at Indochine at 1924 Pacific Ave at 4:45 pm 

Walking To Jerusalem

It is time to begin plans for our trek to Jerusalem.  You will want to begin counting your miles/ minutes next Sunday, January 7.  First time to report is the following Sunday, January 14.  Remember we will count travel movement for walking, running, rowing, biking etc.  Attached below is a copy of our packet for referral.  You will report in each Sunday through to Palm Sunday.

For those who might want to join a group to walk.  We have two options for you to consider in January and February.  You need not sign up in advance.  Just come and join us rain or shine. 

Gig Harbor Wednesday walks:  Meet Patty and Don Reinkensmeyer at 10:30 at the post office and walk to the History Museum for a two mile walk.  The first walk is Wednesday, January 10.

Chambers Bay Saturday walks:  Meet Jan and Clare Walters at 9:30 at the playground parking lot north of the clubhouse.  Walkers will have options to walk 2 to 4 miles.  The first walk is Saturday, January 13.

Mexico Mission Trip 2018
 
 In case you're considering being part of St.  Mark's annual mission trip to Mexico, the dates for this year's trip are  June 22nd - June 30th.  Stay tuned for additional information in early  2018.

Children and Youth Faith Formation
  
Sunday morning classes for children 3 years old to 12th grade will resume Sunday, Jan. 7th at 9:45am. 
 
Coming up: 

"GATHERING AROUND CHRIST'S TABLE"  Communion Milestone Event for 4-year-old, Preschool age children and their parents (older children who have not participated in this gathering are also welcome).  Sunday, January 7, 2018 9:45 am in the Sunday School Wing. Children and parents will go up for communion near the end of the service. 

Synod Youth Retreat Feb. 9-11th at Camp Arnold- grades 7-10th Registration form on the Youth Board-deposits and registrations being accepted-final payment due 1/31. Featuring guest Musician and Speaker--Rachel Kurtz (from Holden Village last year). If any youth grades 6, 11 or 12th want to attend please let me know as space is available.
 
We are headed to Montana again this summer...  July 22-27, 2018. (no extra travel days). See the youth board for registration instructions. 

Adult Faith Formation


Adult Forum: 9:45 a.m. PCC
Each week provides opportunities to reflect on Christian faith in light of current events and the daily decisions we need to make. Topics vary, leadership is shared, and the conversation is lively.  Resumes this week!

Adult Class- Sundays 11am in the Fireside Room
As our 11am Adult Class, Dr. Traci Drake will offer Year 1 of Crossways, a faith-enriching, life-changing course that serves as your 'road map' for an unforgettable journey through the entire Bible.   To order the set of Learner books, please contact the church office.    The cost for books each trimester is $20.  Participants are asked to cover whatever part of that cost they are able to pay. Resumes this week!

Tuesday "Fully Alive" Bible Study; 5:15pm in the Fireside Room
We will resume meeting Tuesday, Jan. 9. We will discuss Chapter 3 of Goliath Must Fall. Questions, Sherry Mauira 253-303-1681. 

Women's Bible Study; Wed. 9:30 am in the PCC1
We are ladies with varying faith and bible experiences, who help each other by sharing our questions and insights.  With our current study, As It Is in Heaven by Greg Laurie, a thought-provoking book, we are studying God's will for us here on earth.   For more information, contact Linda Durant, hotdouug@harbornet.com , or (253) 363-8202.


Noon Wednesday Text Study Luncheon in the Parish Commons Classroom. 
Gather for lunch and for conversation and study around the texts that will be hear in worship the following Sunday. Conversation will be guided by who will be preaching, and by the insights and questions of the group.  Will not meet Dec. 20, 27,Jan. 3,10.
 
Notes and News
 
The 20th annual "Sounds of Brass" concert will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Tacoma Community College. 3pm Bldg #2 (TCC Auditorium)  Guest Artists include Zach Lyman and Mary McCann. Music selections will include Shostakovich, William Byrd, Prokofiev, Bernstein, and Granados.
