St. Luke's Episcopal Church
June 26, 2014

Dear  St. Lukians,

Well, looks like we have a new man at the helm.   Michael Delk, the rector of Hickory Neck Episcopal Church in Toano, Virginia (I understand that's near Williamsburg) has accepted our call.  He will be with us physically and full time the latter part of July.

Rev. Delk is a "good 'ol Kentucky boy," having been born and raised in Logan County, KY.  He's earned a BA in Religion from Transylvania University in Lexington and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary.   His "first church" was Good Shepherd in Lexington  (Looks like we have another UK fan in our midst) -and- his current one,  where he has been rector for the past twelve years,  is Hickory Neck.  He promises to explain from where that name  was derived.

He and his wife, Stephanie, who works in the health field have two pre-teenagers, Ben and Emma.

Let the fun and celebration begin.

In that vein, we will also celebrate and thank John Fritschner for his leadership and love during this transition period.  He has definitely kept us on an upward trajectory during his time at 1206 Maple Lane.

There will be a "Thank  You " reception for him and Nancy after the 10:00 o'clock service on July 13th hosted by the Brotherhood of St Andrews and Daughters of the King.  You know the fare and fun will be special for our two special honorees!

This will also give us a chance to thank Charlie Hawkins and his search committee for their long hours of deliberation and thoughtfulness. Outstanding job!   We appreciate your efforts.

Unfortunately, Jennifer and I will be winging our way over the Pacific on that Sunday, taking our two "children" and their families to Pineapple Land  to show the oldest where he was born.   Someone take pictures and hug both of them for us!   Aloha!!
