Congratulations Math Bee Winners!!
On May 16, Go Full STEAM hosted the 2024 Orange County fourth grade Math Bee at St. Luke's UMC.
For the first time ever, the Math Bee lasted 14 rounds, with the officials going through more than 200 questions. The event was streamed live on WKMG and was hosted by News 6 Evening News Anchor, Ginger Gadsden.
This year's fourth grade competition had 2225 students participating, with 24 students making it to the County Final Bee. Congratulations to Christina Lewis, who took first place, and to all of the 2024 Math Bee Finalists.
The Math Bee started in one school and in one classroom 15 years ago in 2009 under the St. Luke’s Educational IMPACT Ministry. Today, 24 Title 1 schools in OCPS participate in Math Bee under Go Full STEAM (a non-profit launched out of St. Luke’s as an umbrella organization for four Missions programs that grew beyond the scope of St. Luke’s and now are serving under-resourced students county-wide).
St. Luke's Shout Outs!
The May featured Staff Shout Out goes to
St. Luke's Director of Operations, Luky Nova!
After a recent funeral, the widow of the deceased was left behind with her caregiver and no transportation back to Harbor Chase. Luky jumped into action taking both women to Harbor Chase in her own car. She went above and beyond to help Mrs. Sloan and her caregiver on a very sad day. Thank you Luky!
