Historic Caribbean-Wide Black Friday Sales Event Set to Launch

6 Caribbean nations make history by holding the largest, multi-island Black Friday Sales Event. With nearly 400 participating hotels and resorts, travel enthusiasts have never seen such wide cooperation among the Caribbean's top destinations.

From 12:01am on Black Friday to 11:59pm on Cyber Monday, travelers will save 20.15% off virtually every hotel and resort on Barbados, Antigua, Trinidad, Tobago, St. Lucia, Anguilla and Nicaragua. The 29th Atlantic Rally for Cruisers sets sail from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 4 days ago

The 29th Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) set sail today bound for Saint Lucia following a delayed start due to strong winds locally in the harbour of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria yesterday. 

 

For only the third time in the rally's history, the decision was made to delay the start, initially planned for 12:30 on Sunday 23 November by 20 hours. The ARC 2014 fleet remained in port for an extra night, and were greeted this morning with a fine NE breeze providing a swift departure for the first part of the passage across the Atlantic. 

 

In total, 176 boats and 1020 people, including 27 children aged under 16, are sailing with the route directly to Saint Lucia in this year's edition of the world's most popular transocean rally.

Ms. Jamie Charmon

 

This week the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA) features an outstanding intern within its secretariat.

 

Jamie Charmon started her internship with the SLHTA on Tuesday 10th June 2014 as Personal Assistant to the Executive Vice President, Mr. Noorani Azeez. Jamie was tasked with a number of responsibilities including scheduling meetings, organizing trips and itineraries and circulating memos to members of staff at the request of the EVP.

 

Ms. Charmon has grown tremendously as a professional and takes her job very serious. Mr. Azeez says "Jamie has exceeded my expectations and I am committed to her development. When she started I thought that she was just another intern who's looking for experience, but in fact she surprised everyone at the office and has blended in very nicely. I am proud of her, and she has my full endorsement".

 

Jamie and her unborn son are from the community of Canaries. She attended the Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School and graduated in 2007. Thereafter, she when on to further her studies at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC), obtaining her Associates Degree in Office Administration.

The power company launched a Facebook promotion on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 that will give members of the public an opportunity to win one of these tablets.  The promotion is part of continuing activities in observance of LUCELEC's 50th Anniversary.

 

Interested persons must like the Company's Facebook page and post a picture and brief write up about a moment in their lives they really appreciated the value of electricity.

Ministry of Tourism, Heritage & Creative Industries host Argentinian Delegation for 2nd consecutive year
 

The Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries will be hosting a delegation from the Argentinean Ministry of Tourism for the second consecutive year.  The three member team will be in Saint Lucia from Wednesday 26th - Saturday 29th
 November, 2014.  While on island, the representatives are scheduled to meet with Minister for Tourism Hon. Lorne Theophilus, Maritime Consultant Mr. Cuthbert Didier as well as Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, to discuss the progress on the International Bi-lateral Co-operation Project between Saint Lucia and Argentina.

 

As part of the project, the Argentinean Ministry of Tourism will be offering a series of Online Training Programs to individuals within the maritime sector as well as those from other tourism sub-sectors both public and private. Agencies (CAIPA). Invest Saint Lucia captured the Presidency at the just concluded Annual General Meeting of CAIPA held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Incidentally, Dr. Jean Alain Rodriguez of the Dominican Republic's Center for Export and Investment who was the only other candidate vying for the post, now serves as Second Vice President

Martinique dominates Digicel Saint Lucia Triathlon 2014

The Martinicans have landed - and abducted nearly all the honours at the second Digicel Tri St Lucia International Triathlon on Saturday. In fact, the only winner in the adult races not representing the French dependency was so chuffed he went down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend at the finish line. 

Other factors that made this relaxed Caribbean triathlon stand out from the normal fare included double-Olympic champion Daley Thompson handing out the finishers' medals and former world record miler Steve Cram cycling as part of a relay team before acting as a cheerleader for the runners.
