Worship this Summer
The next two Sundays, June 25 & July 2, Rev. Lee Gray will be delivering messages from our Lectionary passages in Genesis. The connecting theme will be the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who speaks.
This Sunday, June 25, we will look at Genesis 21:8-21 where Sarah & Abraham send Hagar & Ishmael into the wilderness where they are saved, sustained, and blessed by God. The title of the message is “We believe it, when we see it.” Next Sunday, July 2, we will look at Genesis 22:1-14 where Abraham is prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac until an angel of the Lord tells him not to do so. The title of that message is “Discerning the Voice of God.”
We obviously hope that our Senior Minister, Dennis Foust, has a restful and meaningful learning time while away on Sabbatical this summer. Our thoughts and prayers go with him.
Below is the preaching schedule for this summer:

World Refugee Day, June 24, 2023
Join in the fun and lend a hand!
World Refugee Day is an international day established in 2001 by the United Nations and held every year in June. It is designed to celebrate and honor refugees from around the world.
This year’s celebration in Charlotte will be held on the grounds of ourBridge for Kids and Refugee Support Services, two of the local agencies serving refugees. St. John’s will be staffing a photo booth between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We need 2-4 people to staff each of the one-hour slots to take Polaroid pictures and also take pictures of the participants with their own cameras, against a backdrop depicting a global theme.
The location is at the entrance to Aldersgate, 3800 Shamrock Dr. if you can help, please contact: Beverly Hester, beverlyrhester@earthlink.net Nina Phillips, ninacarl@gmail.com

Celebrating St. John's Heart Math Tutors!
This past school year, Melissa Millette, Kim Ray, and Beth Lewis volunteered at Heart Math Tutoring for a total of 51 hours. Attached is a Partner Report sharing this year’s program outcomes and the impact of these dedicated St. John’s Baptist tutors. The individualized tutoring that they provided supported students with important math practice and mentorship. The program results indicate what a huge difference that additional support made.
