A Note From Father Rock

Greetings, Church Family!

I trust you had a blessed Easter! The Season continues!

This Sunday will be my last till July as I head to sabbatical and study and rest in Costa Rica. You will be in the very able hads of the Rev. Bo Millner, and all our normal staff, who will keep things going around here like they always do.

In the coming weeks right after church we have things to stick around for. This Sunday there is a church lunch funded by the sabbatical grant so we can all share in the leave-talking. On the 14th of April, Dr. Rachel Easter will have a coffee to talk about another of here educational missions to Honduras. The 21st Miriam Smith and Aleta Meyer will be sharing on how we can get even better about being a children and youth friendly Church supporting and encouraging our families. I may be taking some time of sabbath, but WE are the church, and the church continues.

We also have our end of the year picnic, Graduate Sunday, and St. Jimmy's Jam, to name a few things in May and June. The momentum is not dependent on one person.

Please pray for me and my family as we venture forth. These are big days for all of us, to varying degrees. Prayer for our Wardens, Bob and Kathy, and our Vestry as they expand their responsibilities. Pray for our staff and Bo+ as they keep things afloat.

And lastly, THANK YOU! Thank you for the time and trust as I try new things in a new country and recharge my heart and soul for the years to come. We will see you in July before we begin the second portion mid-August.

Blessings,

Rock+

Lunch and Learn April 21: Growing a Church-Wide Culture of Support for All Children and Youth

Join us for a Lunch and Learn facilitated by Aleta Meyer and Miriam Smith that will (1) raise our awareness about the important roles everyone in the church plays in the lives of children and youth AND (2) build our capacity and muscles for reaching out, paying attention to, and engaging with someone in a different generation or someone that we may not know very well or at all. You Matter. We All Matter.

Church-wide Luncheon

Mark your calendars for THIS Sunday, April 7th. We will have a delicious catered lunch following the 10am service to send Father Rock off on his Sabbatical. We are so happy for him and wish him a peaceful time away with his family.

Coffee Pot with Rachel Easter 4/14

With God’s help and support from the SJTL congregation, the Cycles of Change project continues in rural Honduras! Dr. Rachel Easter participated in another medical brigade the past February, conducting women’s health classes and distributing menstrual hygiene products. The communities are hungry for more education about sexual health and puberty topics for both boys and girls, and Dr. Easter is committed to ensuring this effort continues. On April 14th , following the 10am service, she will present updates, goals, and ways for SJTL to stay involved.
