  • Wednesday, September 4, 11:00 am

Time to Change the Healing Surface

On Wednesday, August 28, the Healing Service will be at 10:00 am in the Chapel and will continue to be held at 10:00 am unless otherwise noted or announced. But why, you may be asking yourself, is it being moved? Because it will accommodate Father Jason’s schedule better if it is at ten instead of twelve. The healing service itself will remain the same, only now it will happen two hours earlier.

Service Exchange with the Wayfarers Congregation

The Wayfarers have been worshiping in the chapel since February of this year, and Pastor David and I thought it would be instructive and fun if each congregation worshiped with the other. To that end, the Wayfarers will be joining our service for worship on September 22; they will not be meeting in the chapel that day at 10:15 am, but will be with us. The following Sunday, September 29, we will be joining them for their service in the chapel at 10:15 am, and we will not have a service at 10:00 am. Neither congregation is going to alter the way it worships so that the visitors have a good sense of what their hosts do every week.

Pastor David will help celebrate communion when his congregation is with us, though I will be sanctifying the elements. When we worship with them, I will lead the Lord's Prayer and will give the benediction at the end, and Deacon Celeste will read the gospel and lead the Prayers of the People.

We will not have a 10:00 am service on September 29 and we will meet in the chapel. The chapel holds up to 175 people if we put extra chairs in the baptistry and in the front near the pulpit. It would be wonderful if we were elbow-to-elbow on September 29, but given that our average Sunday attendance at 10:00 am is 93 and theirs is 45 I’m not worried that we will run out of seats. Also, we will still have the 8:00 am service on September 29, so anyone who wants plenty of elbow room and the warmth of familiarity will have it.

Having them with us every Sunday for fellowship has elevated and enriched our coffee hour.

I am excited about this opportunity to strengthen our ties with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and to learn how they worship on an average Sunday. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have; I am always willing to listen, and I do my best to accommodate when possible.
